Volstad hoping to bounce back

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2/14/2013) Rockies pitcher Chris Volstad is looking for a fresh start with his new club. Volstad, who signed a minor-league deal with Colorado will try to connect with new director of pitching operations Mark Wiley in spring training. Wiley was the Marlins' pitching coach when Volstad broke into the Majors in 2008. "Being able to recall what we worked on then and what he remembered, I think it might be a little bit of an advantage, just in communication," Volstad said. "I hit the gym really hard this offseason, kind of for that reason," Volstad said. "It was kind of awkward, not being in a spot and not knowing where you're going to end up. Ending up here is definitely the best thing that would've happened. I'm excited about it.
