(1/28/2009) The Mets have extended spring training invitations to right-handed pitchers Nelson Figueroa, Michael Antonini, Dillon Gee and Tobi Stoner, left-handed pitchers Adam Bostick, Casey Fossum and Tom Martin, catchers Rene Rivera, Omir Santos and Joshua Thole, infielders Andy Green, Michel Abreu and Jose Coronado and outfielder Fernando Martinez.

(3/5/2008) MLB.com reports the growing list of injured Mets continues to climb now that minor league 1B Michel Abreu sustained a right hip flexor running to first base during Monday's game. He is day to day.

Mets to give M. Abreu a long look


(3/1/2008) If Mets 1B Carlos Delgado's hip injury ends up more serious than expected, Michel Abreu is the lone prospect in camp that could contend for the spot. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound first baseman missed all of last season because of a visa issue. "We're going to find out about him," general manager Omar Minaya said. "This spring we're going to give him an opportunity. Right now, he's slotted to go to Triple-A."

(2/7/2008) The Mets signed RHP Nelson Figueroa and RHP Ivan Maldonado to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. Also, they invited farm hands LHP Jonathon Niese, RHP Robert Parnell, RHP Brant Rustich, OF Fernando Martinez and 1B Michel Abreu to spring training.
