Jason Donald heading to the Rangers

(5/29/2014) The Royals have traded infielder Jason Donald to the Rangers, according to the Kansas City Star.

Donald should provide depth to a Rangers team ravaged by injury. He has not appeared in the majors since 2012, and is hitting just .231 in Triple-A.


Royals sign Jason Donald, Melky Mesa to minor-league deals

(12/28/2013) The Royals announced Saturday that they have signed infielder Jason Donald and outfielder Melky Mesa to minor-league contracts.

Donald hit .219/.268/.319 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 251 at-bats with Double-A Louisville last season. He owns a career .257/.309/.362 batting line over 552 major-league at-bats. Mesa went 5 for 13 in his brief time with the Yankees last season while also hitting .261/.295/.452 with 13 home runs, 39 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 314 at-bats with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.


Reds outright Jason Donald to Triple-A

(4/5/2013) The Reds have outrighted utility infielder Jason Donald to Triple-A, the club announced Friday.

Donald was designated for assignment earlier in the week. The 28-year-old hit .202/.246/.282 (50 OPS+) in 43 games for Cleveland last season. 


Reds complete roster for opener

(3/31/2013) The Reds made several moves to finalize their roster for the regular season, reassigning second baseman Emmanuel Burriss, catcher Corky Miller and outfielders Denis Phipps and Derrick Robinson to their minor-league camp. Cincinnati also outrighted pitcher Jose Arredondo to Triple-A Louisville while optioning pitcher Logan Ondrusek to Double-A Pensacola.

Third baseman Jason Donald also was designated for assignment and the Reds purchased the contract of shortstop Cesar Izturis to take his place on the 40-man roster.

(3/25/2013) Reds infielder Jason Donald said Monday that his knee feels "awesome," the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Donald is scheduled to see at-bats in a minor league game Monday. 

Donald had been out the last few days with a sprained knee but is on the mend. Donald, 28, is batting .303 this spring over 33 at-bats with four RBI and a stolen base.

Donald is expected to back up at second, shortstop and third base this season for the Reds. He was injured sliding into second base on Friday and is day to day. 

Donald, 28, is batting .303 this spring over 33 at-bats with four RBI and a stolen base.

Cleveland received pitchers Trevor Bauer, Matt Albers, Bryan Shaw and outfielder Drew Stubbs. Cincinnati received outfielder Shin-Soo Choo and infielder Jason Donald while Arizona landed shortstop Didi Gregorius, first baseman Lars Anderson and reliever Tony Sipp.
