Braves begin to finalize roster by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(3/26/2013) The Atlanta Braves announced Tuesday that Jordan Schafer has made the opening day roster, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Atlanta optioned infielder Tyler Pastornicky, outfielder Jose Constanza and reliever David Carpenter to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Braves skipper Freddi Gonzalez said Pastornicky, who hit .375 this spring with two homers and 14 RBI over 56 at-bats, remains a valuable piece for the team. He will play second, shortstop and some outfield in the minors. He'll play mostly second after Paul Janish returns.
The 26-year-old Schafer hit .241 this spring with four stolen bases. The speedster will be a backup outfielder.
