(8/28/2013) The Twins have released pitcher Tim Wood, the club announced Wednesday. Wood pitched just 9 1/3 innings in the minor leagues for Minnesota before arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder ended his season.

(8/7/2013) Twins reliever Tim Wood will undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Aug. 22 in Chicago, the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports Wednesday. Wood, who signed a minor league contract last winter and was pitching with Triple-A Rochester, is officially done for the season. 

"He said he still had pain in the front of his shoulder," Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said. "He wasn't comfortable throwing. You won't see him in a Twins uni this year."

The 30-year-old Wood, who is on the 60-day disabled list, is a pending free agent. It is unlikely the Twins will sign him again.

(5/24/2013) The Twins have transferred pitcher Tim Wood to the 60-day disabled list, the club announced Friday.

The club needed his roster spot to call up Samuel Deduno to pitch Friday's game against Detroit. Wood has been dealing with a shoulder and back injury all season. He is expected to go on a rehab assignment sometime in the next week. Wood will be eligible to return May 30.

Wood has appeared in two games for Class A Fort Myers and has thrown 1 1/3 innings with five hits, three runs and a walk allowed. He's yet to appear in a game for Minnesota this season.

Wood pitched just one inning and allowed three hits and a run but escaped with the win for Fort Myers.

"Wood threw an inning for the Miracle and will probably pitch tomorrow or the next day," Twins general manager Terry Ryan told MLB.com.

Wood was competing for a spot in the Twins bullpen this spring and posted a 4.91 ERA and 2.5 K/BB in 11 innings. He last appeared in the majors in 2011 with Pittsburgh, where he posted a 5.63 ERA in eight innings.

(3/25/2013) Twins general manager Terry Ryan said Monday pitchers Tim Wood (rotator cuff strain) and Samuel Deduno (groin) remain shut down, according to MLB.com. There is no timetable for a return for either pitcher.

"Unfortunately, the timing is not good for either one of them," Ryan said.

MLB.com reports Wood is expected to begin the year on the 15-day DL and Deduno will likely begin the year in Triple-A after he recovers from his injury.
