Rays trim roster by eight

(3/21/2014) The Rays announced a flurry of moves to trim the roster down to 34 Thursday, with the end of spring training looming.

Pitcher Brad Boxberger was optioned to Triple-A, while catcher Ali Solis , infielder Cole Figuero, outfielders Jerry Sand and Justin Christian , and pitchers Adam Liberatore, Steven Geltz and Juan Sandoval were assigned to minor-league camp.  


Rays sign Justin Christian to minor-league deal

(1/10/2014) The Rays have signed outfielder Justin Christian to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training, Fox Sports 1 reports.

Christian has hit .203/.255/.266 with 12 stolen bases in 143 at-bats across three major-league season. He hit .270/.332/.353 with three home runs, 29 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 374 at-bats with Triple-A Memphis in 2013.


Kolten Wong among Cards sent to minor-league camp

(3/23/2013) The Cardinals reassigned Kolten Wong, Audry Perez, J.R. Towles, Seth Maness and Justin Christian to minor-league camp Saturday.

Wong, a first-round pick in 2011, batted .250 (7 for 28) with a homer and three RBI in 19 Cactus League games.
