J.C. Romero goes on minors DL

(6/17/2013) Triple-A Columbus pitcher J.C. Romero was placed on the seven-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation, MLB.com reports Monday. Romero was signed by the Indians in early June. 

Romero has appeared in two games for Columbus, allowing a run over two innings with two walks and two strikeouts.

(6/4/2013) Newly acquired pitcher J.C. Romero is expected to report to Triple-A Columbus Thursday as long as he passes a physical, MLB.com reports. He's expected to sign a minor-league contract with the Indians.

Romero was 0-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 13 relief appearances for Triple-A Syracuse before opting out of his contract with Washington.

(6/3/2013) Veteran reliever J.C. Romero opted out of his minor-league contract with the Nationals, according to FOX Sports. The Indians are working on finalizing a deal with Romero, who could report to Triple-A Columbus as soon as Thursday.

Romero was 0-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 13 relief appearances for Triple-A Syracuse.

(5/24/2013) The Nationals are in a bind with regards to minor-league reliever J.C. Romero, who nearly broke camp with the team in spring training. Romero has an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract if he is not on the major-league roster by June 1, however he has not pitched since May 8 due to shoulder stiffness, according to The Washington Post.

Romero has begun a throwing program, but has yet to take the mound again. Prior to the injury, he posted a 2.84 ERA for Triple-A Syracuse, but has a 9.00 ERA in 12 innings in the majors last year.

(3/28/2013) Nationals reliever J.C. Romero will open the season at Triple-A Syracuse, the Washington Post reports.

Romero was signed as insurance for the bullpen last week. Since the Nationals lost left-handed relievers Tom Gorzelanny and Mike Gonzalez in free agency last season, Romero gives the Nationals organizational bullpen depth.

(3/22/2013) Seeking additional depth in the organization, the Nationals signed veteran relief pitcher J.C. Romero to a minor-league contract on Friday. Romero, who split time between Baltimore and St. Louis last year, is expected to begin the season at Triple-A.

"The way I look at it, he gives us insurance," manager Davey Johnson said. "We lost three pretty good left-handers from last year."
