Dodgers reliever Chris Hatcher blows save, picks up loss Monday

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5/4/2015) Dodgers relief pitcher Chris Hatcher allowed the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, leading to Los Angeles' 4-3 loss to the Brewers on Monday.

Hatcher came on in relief with an out in the eighth and a man on second. He allowed an RBI double to Carlos Gomez, with the run going to starter Clayton Kershaw, to tie the game. Then, Ryan Braun dribbled an infield single to third, scoring Gomez. Los Angeles couldn't do anything offensively in the ninth, saddling Hatcher with his third loss of the season.

Hatcher pushed his ERA to 7.20 in 10 innings of work.

Dodgers' Chris Hatcher gives up three runs in ninth inning

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(4/12/2015) Dodgers reliever Chris Hatcher had a rough ninth-inning appearance in Los Angeles' 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

Hatcher gave up three earned runs in the final period. He first gave up an RBI single to Jordan Pacheco before giving up a two-run double from A.J. Pollock. The two-thirds of an inning pitched ballooned Hatcher's ERA to 33.75 for the time being.

Joel Peralta came in to record the game's final out and earn a save.

Report: Hatcher could earn lion's share of save chances for Dodgers

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/8/2015) Although Dodgers manager Don Mattingly reiterated that there is no closer among the seven relievers on active roster, it appears as if right-hander Chris Hatcher could be in line to receive the lion's share of the save opportunities while closer Kenley Jansen begins the season on the disabled list with a foot injury, according to the Orange County Register.

"We haven't talked to anybody about roles," Mattingly said. "We haven't talked to guys about what inning they're going to pitch. I think guys kind of know what time of the game they're going to pitch."

Hatcher picked up the first save of the season for the Dodgers on Monday.

Chris Hatcher picks up first save for Dodgers in 2015

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/7/2015) Reliever Chris Hatcher got the first chance to close out a game for the Dodgers in Monday's season opener against the Padres, as closer Kenley Jansen begins the season on the disabled list due to a foot injury. Hatcher came through for Los Angeles, finishing off a 6-3 win for his first career save.

Hatcher got off to a rocky start, as he hit Jedd Gyorko with a pitch to start the inning. But Hatcher then got Yonder Alonso to ground into a double play and finished off the win with a strikeout of Alexi Amarista.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly continues to be vague about his plans for the ninth-inning with Jansen sidelined. Coming into the season, he said matchups would dictate who closes in Jansen's absence.

"I wish I had that inclination," Hatcher said, per the Los Angeles Times. "I thought I might go to the back end, but to the ninth inning?"
