Emmanuel Burriss hoping to rebound in 2015 with Nationals

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2/22/2015) Infielder Emmanuel Burriss is looking to get back to the majors this season after spending 2013 in the minor leagues. He hit .300 with 22 stolen bases in 116 games for Triple-A Syracuse and thinks if he can stay healthy, he can contribute for the Nationals this year.

"Last year, my main concern was to stay healthy throughout the whole season," Burriss said. "I put in the extra work that was missing. I was in the training room for some of those times. I wanted to make sure my legs were as strong as they could be, get back to moving quickly around the bases. Being able to hit from both sides of the plate helped the team out."

Canham hit .261/.360/.381 with two home runs, 26 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 291 at-bats with Double-A Northwest Arkansas while also going 5 for 15 in six appearances with Triple-A Omaha.

Peterson went 2 for 26 with the Cardinals last season in his first exposure to the majors while also hitting .296/.364/.531 with 25 home runs and 86 RBI in 456 at-bats with Triple-A Memphis last season.
