Seven players outrighted by Marlins

(10/7/2013) The Marlins outrighted the following players Monday: pitchers Kevin Slowey, Jose Ceda, Steven Ames and Zach Phillips, catcher Koyie Hill, first baseman Joe Mahoney and infielder Gil Velazquez .

Each of the players played some portion of the 2013 season with the Marlins, except for Ceda, who continued to recover from Tommy John surgery.

(10/5/2013) Marlins reliever Jose Ceda was sent outright to Triple-A New Orleans. The 26-year-old hurler spent most of the year recovering from Tommy John surgery. He's hoping to compete for a job in spring training next season for Miami.

(7/23/2013) Marlins reliever Jose Ceda (Tommy John surgery) has been thriving since beginning a rehab assignment. After tossing two scoreless innings for the Gulf Coast League Marlins (rookie), Ceda has fired a scoreless inning for Class A Jupiter.

Ceda has struck out five batters in three innings, while not allowing a hit or walk.
