(8/31/2014) Indians manager Terry Francona told reporters that the team will recall Jesus Aguilar, Bryan Price and Austin Adams. The team will also activate Jason Giambi from the disabled list and will reinstate Chris Gimenez from the paternity list.

Gimenez will replace Yan Gomes on the team's roster. Gomes was placed on the 7-day disabled list due to a concussion. Gimenez is hitting .262 over 107 at-bats in the majors.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays are expected to have interest in Gimenez's services. He hit .262/.331/.355 in 107 at-bats for the Rangers.

(7/5/2014) Ron Washington has stated that journeyman catcher Chris Gimenez could stick with the Rangers upon the impending return of Geovany Soto, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Gimenez is out of options and can also play first base.

He has also performed better at the plate than in any season in his career, which isn't saying much. He is hitting .293 in 75 at-bats.

(3/28/2014) Journeyman catcher Chris Gimenez has bounced from one American League West team to another. He has signed with the Rangers after being released by the Athletics, the Bay Area News Group has reported.

Gimenez will try to push himself over the Mendoza Line this season. He owns a career average of .199 in 331 at-bats.

To make room for Gimenez, the Rangers designated pitcher Michael Kirkman for assignment. Kirkman failed in his attempt to land a rotation spot this spring after a miserable 2013 season in which he sported an 8.18 ERA in 25 appearances.
