Nick Noonan gets three hits in first career start

(4/11/2013) Giants second baseman Nick Noonan made his first career start in Thursday's win over the Cubs, singling three times, striking out twice and scoring two runs.

Noonan, who hit .296/.347/.416 at Triple-A during his age-23 season in 2012, is hitting .455/.500/.455 in 12 plate appearances with the Giants this year. He could earn a little more playing time if Marco Scutaro continues to struggle.


Nick Noonan draws first MLB start

(4/11/2013) Giants rookie infielder Nick Noonan drew the first start of his MLB career Thursday at Chicago. Noonan replaced Marco Scutaro at second base against the Cubs.

Noonan had made five appearances off the bench entering Thursday, batting .333 (2 for 6) with a walk, a run and a strikeout.


Nick Noonan recalled from Triple-A

(3/30/2013) The Giants have recalled infielder Nick Noonan from Triple-A Fresno, awarding the 23-year-old with a spot on the team's opening day roster. He hit .254/.288/.476 in 66 Cactus League plate appearances this spring.

Noonan will be a backup at second base, shortstop and third base.


Giants ship 20 players to minors

(3/15/2013) The San Francisco Giants completed another round of roster cuts Friday, optioning pitchers Dan Otero, Jake Dunning, Chris Heston and Sandy Rosario, shortstops Ehire Adrianza and Nick Noonan and outfielders Roger Kieschnick and Juan Perez to Triple-A Fresno. Pitcher Edwin Escobar was sent to Class A San Jose. The team also reassigned Brett Bochy, Boof Bonser, Steve Edlefsen, Heath Hembree, Michael Kickham, Mitch Lively, Shane Loux, Ricky Oropesa, Adam Duvall, Brock Bond and Gary Brown to its minor-league camp.
