Giants make some changes to roster Friday

(7/25/2014) The Giants announced several roster moves prior to Friday's series opener against the Dodgers, the Bay Area News Group reports.

the team placed infielders Marco Scutaro (back) and Ehire Adrianza (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list. To clear a roster spot for the move, the Giants designated infielder Nick Noonan and pitcher Jose De Paula for assignment.

(3/14/2014) The Giants optioned second baseman Nick Noonan and outfielder Roger Kieschnick to Triple-A Fresno Friday.

Noonan walked a scored a run Friday, leaving him with a .273/.333/.364 line in 22 at-bats. Kieschnick went 1 for 2 Friday, making him 4 for 25 with four walks this spring.


Giants plan to recall eight players

(9/2/2013) The San Francisco Giants announced Monday they will be recalling eight players from the minors on Tuesday prior to a game at San Diego, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The following players will be brought up from various levels of the minors: Infielders Nick Noonan and Ehire Adrianza; outfielders Francisco Peguero and Juan Perez; relievers George Kontos, Jake Dunning and Heath Hembree; and catcher Johnny Monell.

(8/22/2013) The Giants recalled outfielder Francisco Peguero and shortstop Nick Noonan from Triple-A Fresno prior to Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Peguero batted .317 with four homers and 36 RBI in 281 at-bats in the minors. Noonan hit .252 with 18 RBI in 139 at-bats at Triple-A.

Noonan will hit eighth against Pirates starter Charlie Morton. Noonan was called up Tuesday and pinch hit twice since he has been up. He'll receive his first start since early June. Noonan is hitting .197/.246/.213 in 61 at-bats.

(4/11/2013) Giants second baseman Nick Noonan made his first career start in Thursday's win over the Cubs, singling three times, striking out twice and scoring two runs.

Noonan, who hit .296/.347/.416 at Triple-A during his age-23 season in 2012, is hitting .455/.500/.455 in 12 plate appearances with the Giants this year. He could earn a little more playing time if Marco Scutaro continues to struggle.

(4/11/2013) Giants rookie infielder Nick Noonan drew the first start of his MLB career Thursday at Chicago. Noonan replaced Marco Scutaro at second base against the Cubs.

Noonan had made five appearances off the bench entering Thursday, batting .333 (2 for 6) with a walk, a run and a strikeout.

(3/15/2013) The San Francisco Giants completed another round of roster cuts Friday, optioning pitchers Dan Otero, Jake Dunning, Chris Heston and Sandy Rosario, shortstops Ehire Adrianza and Nick Noonan and outfielders Roger Kieschnick and Juan Perez to Triple-A Fresno. Pitcher Edwin Escobar was sent to Class A San Jose. The team also reassigned Brett Bochy, Boof Bonser, Steve Edlefsen, Heath Hembree, Michael Kickham, Mitch Lively, Shane Loux, Ricky Oropesa, Adam Duvall, Brock Bond and Gary Brown to its minor-league camp.
