by R.J. White | CBSSports.com (5/8/2013) Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez broke a 0-for-16 slump to open May by going 2 for 3 with a double, one run and one RBI Wednesday in the team's 3-1 win over the Angels. The double was Gonzalez's eighth extra-base hit of the year.
The two-hit game gives Gonzalez a .253/.287/.434 line to go with three home runs and three stolen bases in 91 plate appearances this year.
Marwin Gonzalez trying to finish April on positive note
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/29/2013) Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez is aiming to finish April on a high note after hitting a lull in the middle of the month. Following a 4-for-24 slide from April 12-22, which dropped his season average from .444 to .286, Gonzalez enters play Monday against the Yankees batting .333 (6 for 18) in his last five games.
Gonzalez has one home run, one RBI, two doubles and three runs in his last five games. He's also managed two stolen bases in that span. His batting average is back to .300.
Marwin Gonzalez's hot start a fading memory
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/24/2013) Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez homered for the third time Tuesday against the Mariners. However, Gonzalez's slump without a multi-hit game extended to 10 appearances (eight starts).
Gonzalez, who hit .444 through his first six games, is batting .185 (5 for 27) in his last 10 games. He has done double, one home run and three RBI in that span.
Marwin Gonzalez not a long-term SS solution
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/14/2013) I have no problem with Fantasy owners adding a player like Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez and riding the hot hand, but let's just be realistic about his long-term outlook, which isn't very promising.
Gonzalez's slash line in the minors was .260/.307/.355/.662. Offense has never been his strong suit. It's worth noting Gonzalez's BABIP through eight games is .400, which is well above his career .275 average, per FanGraphs.com. He's just getting the hits to fall right now.
If you are in need of shortstop help in the short-term, then get as much out of Gonzalez as you can, but please don't look to him as a long-term solution.

Gonzalez, who is in Houston's lineup Wednesday against the Mariners, is hitting .400/.500/.667 in 18 plate appearances this year with one home run, four runs, three RBI and three walks.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/10/2013) Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez had his best game of the season Tuesday at Seattle. Gonzalez produced a season-high three hits, including his first home run of the season.

Marwin Gonzalez breaks up perfect game
by Ed Gauna | CBSSports.com (4/3/2013) Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez received his first start on Tuesday night against the Rangers and kept his club off the wrong side of history. After going 0 for 2 with a strikeout in his first two at-bats, he came up in the bottom of the ninth inning with two away and Texas starter Yu Darvish one out away from pitching a perfect game.
Gonzalez singled an 0-1 pitch back through the middle to give Houston its first base runner of the evening.
Gonzalez finished 1 for 3 in a 7-0 loss.
Marwin Gonzalez goes yard vs. Cubs
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (3/30/2013) Astros shortstop Marwin Gonzalez launched his second home run of the spring in Friday's contest against the Cubs.
Gonzalez took Edwin Jackson deep for a three-run shot in the second inning. He finished 1 for 2 with a home run and a strikeout in a 6-6 tie. The 24-year-old is hitting .259/.333/.389 with five RBI in 54 at-bats this spring.
Stay away from Astros' shortstops
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (3/24/2013) Now that we have the news the Astros are moving forward with Ronny Cedeno and Marwin Gonzalez at shortstop, it doesn't exactly stir up a lot of intrigue for Fantasy owners. It would have been better if Tyler Greene ran away with the job because at least he had some untapped offensive potential, but now he's not even going to be on the Astros' roster.
Gonzalez's and Cedeno's strength is defense, so there's not much here for Fantasy owners to see. Neither have great offensive upside and could end up splitting playing time. Both players are desperation AL-only Fantasy options, so continue to look toward better alternatives on Draft Day.
Gonzalez to compete for SS job
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (2/5/2013) MLB.com reports Astros infielders Marwin Gonzalez and Tyler Greene will compete for the starting shortstop job this spring in the wake of Jed Lowrie being traded to Oakland.
