Brandon Hicks to get some time off

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(6/14/2014) Giants second baseman Brandon Hicks won't play this weekend, according to CSN.

Hicks is mired in a slump, and manager Bruce Bochy wants to give him a few days to clear his head. While Hicks is expected to be on the bench for the rest of the weekend, Bochy said Hicks is still the team's starter at second. Hicks is hitting .178/.292/.351 over 185 at-bats.

Brandon Hicks benched Thursday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(6/12/2014) The most recent slump for Giants second baseman Brandon Hicks has landed him on the bench Thursday against Washngton. Ehire Adrianza will man the spot instead.

Hicks has two hits in his last 18 at-bats to send his average down to .183 and his on-base percentage under .300.

Brandon Hicks benched for Wednesday game

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5/28/2014) Slumping Giants second baseman Brandon Hicks will probably not have a chance to break out of that slump Wednesday with the Cubs in town. He is not in the lineup.

Hicks, whose spot will be manned by Ehire Adrianza, has just six hits in his last 42 at-bats to shrink his average to a season-low .186.

Brandon Hicks clubs homer No. 8 in win

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(5/24/2014) Giants infielder Brandon Hicks ended a 10-game homerless streak Friday, in a 6-2 win over the Twins.

Hicks clubbed a solo shot to left field in the fourth inning, and that was not the only impact he would make.  He added an RBI via sacrifice fly later in the game, finishing 1 for 2 in the win.

Hicks hasn't been a full time player for the Giants so far, but he does have eight home runs in 130 at-bats, ranking third on the team. He is hitting .200/.314/.423 in 41 games.

Brandon Hicks slowly slides back to .200

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5/9/2014) Giants second baseman Brandon Hicks hasn't been mired in a hitless drought, but he is certainly cold. His batting average has dropped from .250 to .200 over the past two weeks.

Hicks hasn't enjoyed a multi-hit game since April 23. He has just seven hits in 45 at-bats since then. Four of those hits, however, traveled over the fence. The result is that his slugging percentage has actually increased from .442 to .475 since April 25.

Making contact has been a problem. He has 33 strikeouts in 85 at-bats.

(4/23/2014) Giants infielder Brandon Hicks continued his solid play as a part-time player Wednesday, hitting his second home run of the season in a 12-10 win over the Rockies.

Hicks played the entirety of the 11-inning battle, and had his best game of the season. He went 3 for 6 with a pair of extra-base hits, including a solo home run in the third inning that began a comeback. He finished with one run scored and one driven in.

Hicks is hitting .250/.412/.475 in 40 at-bats this season, with four RBI and seven runs scored.

Brandon Hicks' pinch-hit homer proves key

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4/3/2014) The Giants got a lift from an unexpected source Thursday against the Diamondbacks, as pinch-hitter Brandon Hicks provided some power in an 8-5 win.

Hicks came into the game in the seventh inning with the Giants down two, and hit a solo home run to cut the lead to one. It was his first hit of the season in his second at-bat.
