Axelrod made 30 appearances (20 starts) with the White Sox in 2013, going 4-11 with a 5.68 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 73:43 K:BB ratio in 128 1/3 innings.

Dylan Axelrod drops 11th decision

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(9/25/2013) White Sox pitcher Dylan Axelrod took the mound for the final time Wednesday at Cleveland. Looking to play spoiler against the Indians, Axelrod instead helped out Cleveland's cause.

Axelrod took the loss on the outing to fall to 4-11 for his season with a 5.68 ERA. He gave up five runs -- three earned -- on eight hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings in the defeat. Axelrod struck out one batter and threw 90 pitches.

Dylan Axelrod knocked out by Tigers

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(7/10/2013) Chicago White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod did not have a very good outing Wednesday night in Detroit in his final start before the All-Star break. Axelrod did a nice job just getting out of the first inning.

He was on the ropes early and managed to tighten up to remain in the game through 5 2/3 innings. That was the good news. The bad news is Axelrod allowed seven earned runs on 11 hits and two walks over 111 pitches and took the loss to fall to 3-6 with a 5.33 ERA. He struck out three.

Axelrod, 27, has lost back-to-back outings with 12 runs allowed over 7 1/3 innings on 20 base hits. He hasn't won since May 26. The White Sox have not determined the order of their pitching staff for when the second half of the season opens against Atlanta. Axelrod will not get another start before the All-Star break.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Axelrod allowed home runs to Jose Molina and Kelly Johnson in the second inning. The right-hander permitted five runs on nine hits while striking out one over 1 2/3 innings. He threw 54 pitches, 36 strikes, in an 8-3 defeat.

Axelrod has allowed 12 runs over his last three starts (12 1/3 innings). He is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday at Detroit.

Dylan Axelrod serves up two homers in no-decision

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(6/29/2013) White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod had a hard time keeping the ball in the park as he failed to factor in the decision Saturday against the Indians.

Axelrod served up homers to Asdrubal Cabrera and Jason Kipnis. The right-hander surrendered three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three in six innings.

Axelrod has allowed three runs or more in each of his last four starts. He owns a 7.40 ERA over that span. He is scheduled to make his next start Friday at Tampa Bay. He is 1-3 with a 4.53 ERA in eight starts away from home.

The 27-year-old hasn't had a decision since losing at Oakland May 31. He's allowed 14 earned runs over his last three outings spanning 14 2/3 innings. Axelrod's next start is Saturday against Cleveland.

Dylan Axelrod not sharp in no-decision

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(6/18/2013) White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod didn't have the sharpest outing Tuesday in Minnesota.

Axelrod scattered 10 hits over six innings and 114 pitches as he gave up five runs -- four earned. He walked two and struck out five. Chicago lost 7-5, but Axelrod took a no-decision.

The 27-year-old hasn't won since May 26 against Miami. His record remains 3-4 with a 4.39 ERA, but he's given up 10 earned runs over his last two outings spanning 10 innings with four homers allowed. Axelrod will look to turn it around when he next starts Sunday at Kansas City.

Dylan Axelrod skipped in rotation

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(6/12/2013) White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Axelrod will be skipped in the rotation, after rain washed out the team's game Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Axelrod was originally scheduled to start Sunday against the Astros, but is not listed among the team's probable pitchers through Monday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times

Axelrod struggled through his last outing, allowing six earned runs in four innings of work against the Blue Jays Monday.

Dylan Axelrod has rough outing

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(6/11/2013) White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod struggled Monday night against Toronto in a game that was delayed more than an hour-long due to fog.

Axelrod allowed six earned runs on eight hits and four walks over four innings, but got a no-decision because Jays' starter R.A. Dickey gave up seven runs.

Axelrod, who has a 4.26 ERA, struck out one over 91 pitches. He was coming off 5 1/3 scoreless innings at Seattle in another no-decision. Axelrod (3-4) hasn't won since May 26. He next starts Sunday at Houston.

Dylan Axelrod deserves better ownership numbers

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/6/2013) White Sox pitcher Dylan Axelrod quietly grabbed the fifth spot in the team's rotation out of spring training and has been solid since -- 3-4 with a 3.73 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over his first 12 starts.

Although this strong start has come as a bit of a surprise, it really shouldn't have. Axelrod wasn't considered a top prospect, but he had great minor-league numbers. Over six seasons, Axelrod had a 2.81 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. He didn't strike out a ton of batters, but he managed a nice 8.1 K/9 over his career. Although his 5.1 K/9 this season looks shockingly low, it could just be a result of the organization trying to preserve his innings -- teammate Jose Quintana had 10.0 K/9 in the minors, but saw it drop to 5.3 last year (while finishing with a 3.76 ERA).

Axelrod, 27, has six quality starts this season and is 3-1 with a 3.10 ERA in his last five. Although he may hit a wall later in the season, he makes for a nice add now in deeper Fantasy leagues, as he continues to keep his ratios low.

Dylan Axelrod takes no-decision

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(6/5/2013) White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod struggled with command Wednesday afternoon in Seattle. Fortunately, the Mariners couldn't come up with any big hits against him.

Axelrod surrendered six hits and did not give up a run over 5 1/3 shutout innings. Hector Santiago came on to clean up his mess in the sixth inning. Axelrod struck out four batters over 93 pitches, throwing 47 strikes. His ERA is at 3.73.

Axelrod has gone 3-1 in his last five starts without allowing more than three earned runs in any of those outings through a span of 29 innings with 18 strikeouts. With his record at 3-4 on the season, Axelrod will look to move to .500 when he next starts Monday against Toronto.

Dylan Axelrod suffers hard-luck loss

(6/1/2013) White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod took the loss against the A's Friday despite allowing two earned runs on four hits and no walks while striking out seven in seven innings.

Axelrod (3-4) had his highest strikeout total since getting eight against the Red Sox on July 16. He brings a 4.04 ERA into a meeting with the Mariners in Seattle Wednesday.

Dylan Axelrod to remain in rotation

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/26/2013) White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Axelrod, who will be starting Sunday against the Marlins, will remain in the rotation as the fifth starter, while Hector Santiago moves back to the bullpen, according to MLB.com. Axelrod has won his last two starts, posting a 3.97 ERA and .289 opponents' batting average.

Dylan Axelrod has back-to-back wins

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(5/21/2013) White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod has earned back-to-back victories for his first two wins of the season after taking down the Red Sox Monday at home. Axelrod improved to 2-3 on the year.

The Chicago starter threw 83 pitches and allowed just two earned runs on four hits and a walk over six solid innings. He struck out two and was hurt by a Jarrod Saltalamacchia two-run homer in the third. Otherwise, the Red Sox could do little against him.

The 27-year-old Axelrod has given up five runs over 11 1/3 innings for back-to-back wins. His ERA is now at 4.13 and he's struck out just 28 over 52 1/3 innings. Axelrod makes his next start Sunday against Miami.

Dylan Axelrod earns first win

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(5/15/2013) White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod picked up his first victory of the year Wednesday afternoon in Minnesota. Axelrod was able to minimize the Twins' offense to move to 1-3 for Chicago in the 9-4 win.

The starter gave up a run apiece in the first and second innings, including Eduardo Escobar's solo homer, but allowed just one more run the rest of the way as he went 5 1/3 frames. He allowed three runs on nine hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Axelrod threw 104 pitches and his ERA is now at 4.27.

The 27-year-old, who entered Wednesday's outing having lost back-to-back starts, has been able to consistently work into the sixth and seventh innings. He's just not getting a ton of run support and every now and then gets hit hard.

Axelrod will make his next scheduled start Monday against the Red Sox.

Dylan Axelrod falls to 0-3 with ugly outing

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(5/11/2013) White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Axelrod dropped to 0-3 on the year after allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk in six innings against the Angels Friday night, striking out six.

Axelrod posted his highest strikeout total of the season in the game and managed to last at least six innings in his fifth straight start. He takes a 4.17 ERA into a meeting with the Twins in Minnesota Wednesday.

Dylan Axelrod outdueled for second loss

by Ed Gauna | CBSSports.com
(5/4/2013) White Sox pitcher Dylan Axelrod turned in his fourth straight quality start on Saturday against the Royals but it was not enough to overcome his counterpart -- Jeremy Guthrie. He allowed two runs on eight hits over 7 2/3 innings in a 2-0 loss.

The right-hander gave up a two-run triple to Lorenzo Cain in the first for his lone damage. He was pulled after a Salvador Perez single in the eighth and threw 70 of his 113 pitches for strikes while lowering his ERA to 3.60.

Axelrod also walked one with no strikeouts while taking his second loss.

His next start is scheduled for Friday against the Angels.

White Sox set pitching rotation following rainout

by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com
(5/3/2013) The White Sox have reset their rotation in the wake of Friday's rainout against Kansas City. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Dylan Axelrod will pitch Saturday, Jose Quintana will go Sunday and Jake Peavy will pitch the scheduled makeup Monday afternoon if he is recovered from the back injury that scratched him from his last start.

The report said Peavy is a possibility for Monday. Hector Santiago is the most likely replacement if Peavy can't pitch.
