by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/18/2013) In his first stint with the Mets, reliever Greg Burke allowed six earned runs in 7 1/3 innings before being sent down to Triple-A.
He was recalled last week and has been a pleasant surprise, allowing just one hit and one walk in 2 2/3 innings over the last three appearances.
"In the three games he's pitched since he's been back, I've seen much more confidence in his stuff -- much more confidence in his delivery," manager Terry Collins told MLB.com Saturday. "This is a new thing to him. But I thought the ball is getting more movement to it than it was before. I think his offspeed stuff is better than it was in the beginning."

Mets GM upbeat about bullpen
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (3/20/2013) The New York Post reports Mets general manager Sandy Alderson is optimistic the team's bullpen will be much better in 2013 after he has seen promising performances this spring from newcomers Brandon Lyon, LaTroy Hawkins, Scott Atchison, Greg Burke and Pedro Feliciano. The Mets' bullpen ranked 29th in the majors last season in ERA (4.65).
“I think we have a little more confidence in the bullpen than we had toward the end of spring training last year,” Alderson said. “It’s all about performance in the regular season, but it seems that we have a better assortment of veteran arms and we’ve got several pitchers from both the right and left side coming up through the system to give us a lot more depth and are competing for a spot in the bullpen, so that’s a very different situation than we had last year.”
