A's put in claim for Dan Otero

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/29/2013) The Athletics claimed reliever Dan Otero off waivers from the Yankees Friday, the third team he has been on in the course of a week.

Otero posted a 9.00 ERA in seven Cactus League innings with the Giants, after putting up a 5.84 ERA last season with the Giants.

Otero has a reputation as a control specialist in the minors, walking just 38 batters in 275 1/3 innings. That has helped him to a 2.12 ERA overall in six seasons. It is not clear at this point what role Otero will have on the A's roster, or even if he will open the season in the majors.
