(8/22/2015) The Athletics have activated reliever Sean Doolittle from the 60-day DL, the team announced on Saturday. Doolittle has appeared in just one inning for the A's this year, as he has spent time on the disabled list twice with a shoulder injury.

To clear room on the roster, reliever Dan Otero was optioned to Triple-A Nashville.

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(8/15/2015) The Athletics recalled pitcher Dan Otero from Triple-A Nashville, the team announced on Saturday.

Otero was 1-0 with an 0.79 ERA in one start and 11 relief appearances at Nashville. He was 2-4, 5.79 in 29 relief appearances in a stint with Oakland earlier this year.

A's recall RP Arnold Leon from Triple-A; Dan Otero sent down

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(8/3/2015) The Athletics have recalled right-handed reliever Arnold Leon from Triple-A Nashville. Leon has made seven appearances for the A's across several trips between the big leagues and Triple-A. In those seven games, Leon owns a 3.72 ERA over 9 2/3 innings. His most recent stay with the A's lasted all of one day. But now, the team intends on keeping him around a little while longer.

"We wanted to take a harder look at Arnold," manager Bob Melvin said, per MLB.com. "He's been up here a couple times, hasn't really gotten an opportunity to be in a prominent role. It's just been one-inning stints for the most part."

He is taking the roster spot of Dan Otero, who was optioned to Triple-A on Monday. Otero has pitched frequently over the last few weeks, throwing 8 1/3 innings over his last six appearances. So it appears Oakland is making a move to get a fresh arm in the bullpen.

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(7/12/2015) The Athletics recalled RHP Dan Otero from Triple-A Nashville, the team announced on Sunday.

Otero was 1-0 with a 1.08 ERA in nine appearances at Nashville. In a previous stint with the A's this year, he was 2-3 with a 6.29 ERA.

To make room on the roster, the A's optioned RHP Chris Bassitt to Nashville.

Bassitt is 0-2 with a 2.93 ERA in three starts for the A's. Manager Bob Melvin said he would return to the A's rotation on July 25, per the SF Chronicle.

A's promote Venditte, demote Otero; move Crisp to 60-day DL

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(6/5/2015) The Athletics officially selected the contract of switch-pitcher Pat Venditte from Triple-A Nashville and optioned Dan Otero to Nashville. The club also transferred Coco Crisp (neck) to the 60-day disabled list, per the team's official website.

Venditte, 29, has been in the minors for eight years without getting the call. According to Craig Mish of Sirius XM, he'll be the first switch-pitcher in the majors since 1900. This season, he owns a stellar 1.36 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP and 33:13 K:BB ratio over 33 innings of relief for the Sounds.

Crisp has been sidelined since May 19 with a lingering neck issue. He received an epidural in his neck on Monday, and is expected to be shut down for the next month.

Dan Otero's iron man streak to end for Athletics on Monday

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5/4/2015) Athletics reliever Dan Otero has pitched in five games in five days, setting a career high.

"I’d never pitched in four games in four days before this," Otero said, per the Inside the A's blog. "But really, I feel good,"

Otero said he would be able to pitch to a batter or two in Monday's game, but manager Bob Melvin put a stop to that talk, saying that Otero's streak was coming to an end.

Athletics' Dan Otero earns win Monday with four scoreless innings

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/21/2015) Athletics relief pitcher Dan Otero came up big for his team Monday, giving up just one hit in four scoreless innings of relief while striking out four and walking none to earn the win in his team's 6-3 victory over the Angels.

Otero (1-1) combined with Evan Scribner and Tyler Clippard to throw six scoreless innings of one-hit ball after starter Kendall Graveman lasted just three innings.

"That's big," Melvin said after the game, per MLB.com. "Confidence for a lot of guys, too. You're talking about Otero getting a little confidence back, Scribner used in a little different role and getting three key outs and finally getting to Clippard in a save situation. We hadn't been able to do that this year."

Otero came into Monday's game with a 6.75 ERA in four innings over five appearances. He said catcher Stephen Vogt spotted something with his left shoulder in his delivery last week, and he's been working to adjust.

"I was just kind of turning my left shoulder in a little bit," he said. "Getting a little too rotational. That's something I've been cognizant of throwing in the outfield, warming up every day. Noticed it tonight it was good, and it helps all my other pitches when I can stay in line, can stay through the catcher instead of spinning off to the first baseman."

Otero has now posted a 3.38 ERA and 6:0 K:BB ratio in eight innings.

Athletics' Dan Otero blows save in eighth

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4/11/2015) Athletics reliever Dan Otero got charged with a blown save in the eighth inning of an 11-inning loss to Seattle.

Otero entered with two outs in the eighth and runners on second and third, with the A's defending a 2-1 lead.

Nelson Cruz hit the third pitch Otero threw for a three-run homer to left.

''Once it got to 1-1, I was going to try and come in on him but it stayed right there,'' Otero said. ''It wasn't a terrible pitch, but unfortunately in that situation it turned out that way.''

Otero was charged with one run in a third of an inning. His ERA for the season stands at 6.75.

Tyler Clippard to open season as A's closer

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/27/2015) Athletics manager Bob Melvin announced Friday reliever Tyler Clippard will open the season as the team's closer with Sean Doolittle sidelined with a shoulder injury. Clippard was the Nationals' full-time closer in 2012, recording 32 saves in 37 chances. He spent the last two seasons in a setup role. He has 34 career saves over eight MLB seasons.

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
