Athletics INF Andy Parrino sent to Nashville

(6/22/2015) The Athletics have announced that infielder Andy Parrino has been outrighted to Triple-A Nashville. He had been designated for assignment Friday.

Parrino has appeared in 17 games this season, but mostly as a defensive replacement. He's hitless in six at-bats.

(6/19/2015) The Athletics announced that they have Davis optioned Arnold Leon to Nashville and designated Andy Parrino for assignment.

This was a corresponding move to bring back Edward Mujica and Ike Davis from the disabled list. Mujica had a thumb injury and Davis was dealing with a quadricep injury.

(5/22/2015) As expected, the Athletics placed reliever Edward Mujica on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a fractured thumb. Mujica suffered the injury during Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Rays. He held a 3.32 ERA at the time of the injury.

In a corresponding move, Oakland selected the contract of infielder Andy Parrino from Triple-A Nashville. Parrino hit .273 (38 for 139) with six doubles, two triples, four homers, 12 RBI, 20 walks and 43 strikeouts in 38 games at Triple-A this season.

The A's also added Tyler Ladendorf (ankle) to the 60-day disabled list to clear a spot on the 40-man roster.


Athletics reassign three players to minors Sunday

(3/29/2015) The Athletics decided to reassign three players Sunday including: shortstop Andy Parrino, catcher Luke Carlin and first baseman Max Muncy, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

Carlin git .273 with six RBI in 22 plate appearances this spring while Muncy hit .375 in 32 at-bats with two home runs and 10 RBI. Parrino hit just .196 with four doubles and 11 strikeouts in 46 at-bats.

Carlin is likely to be back with the team Tuesday to catch for Barry Zito, according to the report.

Parrino hit .152 in 46 at-bats for the A's last season. He's expected to be invited to big-league spring training.

With Jed Lowrie expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list, manager Bob Melvin hinted that Parrino is expected to get the call. He was sent down after a brief cameo in July, and is hitting .286/.363/.404 in 374 at-bats at Triple-A.

(7/12/2014) The Athletics announced a pair of roster moves prior to Saturday's game against the Mariners in Seattle.

They placed infielder Alberto Callaspo on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring strain. Callaspo left Friday's game against Seattle with the injury, and will need at least seven days to recover, according to the Bay Area News Group. The A's also recalled infielder Andy Parrino from Triple-A Sacramento prior to the game.

(4/18/2014) The Rangers have announced that right-hander Nick Martinez will join the starting rotation as a replacement for Tanner Scheppers, who is on the disabled list. Martinez is set to start Tuesday in Oakland.

The team has also brought up southpaw Aaron Poreda from Triple-A. He will take the roster spot vacated by Scheppers until Martinez arrives.

The Rangers have also designated infielder Andy Parrino for assignment.

(3/17/2014) The Rangers made a slew of roster moves Monday, which included demoting pitcher Nick Tepesch to Triple-A Round Rock so he can continue to start. The Rangers also reassigned pitchers Cory Burns, Miles Mikolas and Daniel Bard, catchers Patrick Cantwell and Brett Nicholas, infielders Kensuke Tanaka and Andy Parrino and outfielders Brad Snyder and Bryan Peterson to minor-league camp.

(3/3/2014) The Texas Rangers claimed infielder Andy Parrino off waivers from the Athletics Monday. Texas placed Derek Holland on the 60-day DL to make room on the roster. 

Parrino, 28, hit .118 with two doubles over 34 at-bats with the A's last season. He had a .210 average with four home runs in 108 minor league games.

Kirby-Jones to San Diego for middle infielder Andy Parrino and pitcher Andrew Werner. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Parrino could wind up competing for the starting job at shortstop. Parrino hit .207 with a home run and a steal in 116 at bats in 2012.
