Aaron Poreda sent to Triple-A Saturday

(7/12/2014) The Rangers opened up a spot on the 25-man roster Saturday, by optioning pitcher Aaron Poreda to Triple-A Round Rock.

Poreda had allowed seven runs in his previous four outings, allowing his ERA to rise to 5.91 on the season.

(7/4/2014) Rangers pitcher Aaron Poreda (2-1) was pegged with the loss in a brief outing Friday night against the Mets in New York. Poreda surrendered one earned run on one walk while striking out one in just one-third of an inning. He owns a 3.60 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP over 20 innings of relief.

(6/17/2014) The Rangers optioned pitcher Robbie Ross to Triple-A Round Rock Tuesday, to open up a spot for the recall of Aaron Poreda .

Ross lost his rotation spot in late May, and has faired little better since joining the bullpen. He has a 5.61 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 61 innings this season.

Poreda was recalled, and pitched, Wednesday, so his stay in the majors was short. Poreda has been up multiple times this year, posting a 3.29 ERA over 13 2/3 innings.

Poreda performed decently in his earlier stint in the bigs this season. But his ERA rose to 3.38 when he gave up one run in four of his last five outings before the demotion.

(4/27/2014) Rangers pitcher Aaron Poreda pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first win of the season in his team's 6-3 victory over the Mariners Saturday.

It was the first win for Poreda (1-0) since 2009 as he has managed to carve out a role in the Rangers bullpen after a four-year hiatus from the big leagues. He has pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings over three appearances.


Rangers make several roster changes

(4/18/2014) The Rangers have announced that right-hander Nick Martinez will join the starting rotation as a replacement for Tanner Scheppers, who is on the disabled list. Martinez is set to start Tuesday in Oakland.

The team has also brought up southpaw Aaron Poreda from Triple-A. He will take the roster spot vacated by Scheppers until Martinez arrives.

The Rangers have also designated infielder Andy Parrino for assignment.

(10/17/2013) The Rangers signed free agent pitcher Aaron Poreda to a minor league deal Thursday, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Poreda pitched most recently in the Pirates organization, playing for Double-A Altoona in 2012, and he last appeared in the majors with the Padres in 2009.
