(3/28/2014) Marlins outfielder Brian Bogusevic was informed Thursday that he didn't make the team's 25-man roster, and he's scheduled to be designated for assignment on Sunday, barring an injury, the Palm Beach Post reports.

"It kind of stinks but it happens. You deal with it," he said. "It’s not really a great time when most teams are trying to trim rosters and not add."

The Marlins will hope Bogusevic accepts an assignment to Triple-A if he passes through waivers unclaimed, but he hasn't made a decision regarding that scenario.

(12/12/2013) The Marlins and Cubs swapped reserve outfielders Thursday. The Marlins received Brian Bogusevic, and the Cubs received Justin Ruggiano.

Ruggiano, 31, was the more instrumental player last year, batting .222 with 18 home runs and 15 stolen bases in 424 at-bats, but Bogusevic, 29, got semi-regular playing time down the stretch, batting .278 with six home runs over his final 97 at-bats.

(9/21/2013) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic had a solid performance Saturday against the Braves, going 2 for 3 in a 3-1 win. Bogusevic stroked a pair of singles in the game, while striking out once.

Bogusevic is now hitting .281/.338/.496 on the season, in 121 at-bats.

(8/17/2013) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic (hamstring) will move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Iowa Saturday, MLB.com reports. Bogusevic went 4 for 4 with in an Arizona Rookie League game Friday.

Bogusevic has gone 10 for 25 on his rehab assignment thus far with five RBI and three stolen bases. He is close to being activated off the disabled list.

(8/11/2013) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic (hamstring) played in his second rehab game with the Arizona League Cubs (rookie) Saturday. However, he has yet to play in the field.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Bogusevic needs to test his hamstring and show he can sprint for a ball in the outfield before being activated off the disabled list.

"We're still a little ways away," Sveum said, per MLB.com.

(8/10/2013) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic, who is on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, was cleared to begin a rehab assignment with the team's Rookie League affiliate, MLB.com reports Saturday. 

Out since July 15, Bogusevic played with the Arizona Rookie League Cubs Friday and recorded a hit with a run scored. He could come off the DL later this month if all goes well during the rehab assignment.

(7/18/2013) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list after aggravating a hamstring injury Sunday, the Chicago Daily Herald reports. The Cubs are expected to promote shortstop Junior Lake in a corresponding move.

Bogusevic missed six games early in July with the hamstring injury before re-aggravating the injury after crashing into an outfield wall Sunday. He has hit .261/.277/.326 with three RBI and two stolen bases in 46 at-bats.

(7/15/2013) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic left Sunday's contest against the Cardinals after aggravating a hamstring injury, according to MLB.com.

Bogusevic crashed into the ivy wall while making a catch in the eighth inning. He finished 1 for 3 with a strikeout and a single in the sixth inning. He was replaced by Cole Gillespie in the eighth. Bogusevic is hitting .261 with three RBI in 46 at-bats.

(7/9/2013) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic could be ready to return to the lineup against the Cardinals Thursday, MLB.com reports. Bogusevic has been sidelined since July 4 with tightness in his left hamstring.

"He's pretty close," manager Dale Sveum said. "It looks like the way things have gone the last couple days, by the Cardinals series on Thursday, he should be ready to play in a game. I think he's at the point where he can pinch-hit and stay on the bases instead of using a pitcher to pinch-run before."

Bogusevic is batting .300 (9 for 30) with three doubles, three RBI and five runs in eight games since his promotion from the minors.

(3/5/2013) Cubs outfielder Brian Bogusevic has had a productive camp thus far. Despite going 0 for 3 in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Rockies, he is batting .444 (8 for 18) with a home run through nine Cactus League games. Manager Dale Sveum told MLB.com that he will give Bogusevic some playing time at first base as well to increase his chances of making the 25-man roster. "The at-bats he's put together, the at-bats he's had against left-handed pitching [have been good], and he has a pretty good track record in the big leagues as a pinch-hitter as well," Sveum said. "He's the leader in camp right now with everything. I've been impressed with his outfield play, his arm. I know he can play the outfield, so I'm going to get him as much time as I can at first base. He said he's not super comfortable there."
