Jeremy Jeffress earns win Friday vs. Dodgers

(8/8/2014) Brewers pitcher Jeremy Jeffress picked up a win Friday after giving up one hit but allowing no runs in two-thirds of an inning in his team's 9-3 victory over the Dodgers.

Jeffress (1-1) picked up his first win of the season after delivering back-to-back holds in his previous two appearances. He owns a 4.09 ERA and 8:5 K:BB ratio in 11 innings, but his numbers have been much better since being acquired by Milwaukee.

(8/3/2014) Brewers pitcher Jeremy Jeffress was stuck with a loss Sunday, giving up one earned run on three hits in two-thirds of an inning and striking out one in his team's 3-2 defeat against the Cardinals.

Jeffress (0-1) came in with a man on first and allowed three straight singles to relinquish the lead. He was able to get out of the inning without any further runners coming home, but the damage was done. Jeffress owns a 5.19 ERA and 5:3 K:BB ratio in 8 2/3 innings.


Brewers make a few roster moves

(7/21/2014) The Brewers announced Monday they selected the contract of reliever Jeremy Jeffress from Triple-A Nashville. To clear a spot on the active roster, Rob Wooten was optioned to Nashville.

To make room on the 40-man roster, Jim Henderson (shoulder) was transferred from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list.

(4/18/2014) At least three teams have shown interest in former Blue Jays reliever Jeremy Jeffress , according to TSN Radio.

The Cardinals, Brewers and White Sox have all considered bringin in Jeffress. He was drafted and developed in the Brewers organization prior to joining Toronto, so there are some ties in Milwaukee. The White Sox are in desperate need of bullpen help, which is why Jeffress makes sense. 

Jeffress refused an outright assignment, and became a free-agent Thursday.

(4/15/2014) The Blue Jays made a few roster moves as expected Tuesday.

The team selected the contract of infielder Munenori Kawasaki from Triple-A Buffalo after placing infielder Maicer Izturis (knee) on the 15-day disabled list. Izturis is expected to miss 4-6 recovering from a torn LCL in his knee.

To make room for Kawasaki on the 40-man roster, pitcher Marcus Walden was designated for assignment. Pitcher Jeremy Jeffress also cleared waivers and was outrighted to Buffalo.

(4/5/2014) The Blue Jays made a minor roster move after Friday's loss to the Yankees, as they designated reliever Jeremy Jefress for assignment and recalled Chad Jenkins to replace him in the bullpen.

Jeffress saw his ERA rise to 10.80 after allowing one run on three hits in one inning Friday. Jenkins posted a 2.70 in 10 appearances a year ago, and was set to open the season for Triple-A Buffalo before getting the call.

(9/9/2013) Blue Jays pitcher Jeremy Jeffress was diagnosed with juvenile epilepsy in late June while playing with Triple-A Buffalo, MLB.com reports Monday. That diagnosis has people around the team believing his career is about to turn a corner. 

The condition took a toll on Jeffress, but now that he's being properly medicated, his symptoms have dissipated and his daily routine is back to normal. 

"The Blue Jays checked me into a hospital in Buffalo and they finally found out what was wrong," Jeffress said. "They have really good doctors there and they figured out I was on the wrong medication. The medication I was on wasn't a long-lasting overnight medication for me, it was for younger kids. They put me on extended-relief type of medicine that worked."


Blue Jays recall Ricky Romero, among others

(9/2/2013) The Toronto Blue Jays recalled four pitchers and a catcher on Monday night following a game in Arizona, the National Post reports.

The Blue Jays recalled starting pitcher Ricky Romero and Tommy John patients Kyle Drabek and Luis Perez. The team also sent for Triple-A Buffalo's Jeremy Jeffress and catcher Mike Nickeas.

Romero, who couldn't make the Blue Jays out of spring training, was called up for two starts in May and gave up six runs over 4 1/3 innings. The former ace struggled at Triple-A as well, going 5-8 with a 5.78 ERA.

Drabek went 1-4 with a 3.14 ERA over three different minor league levels this season while recovering from Tommy John. He had 35 strikeouts over 43 innings.

The 25-year-old spent most of last season with the Royals’ Triple-A club. He did receive 13 1/3 innings in the majors, but had a 6.75 ERA and a 4.07 FIP.
