(7/14/2013) Brewers pitcher Alfredo Figaro will return in a long relief role once he is over his oblique injury, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Figaro owns a 4.64 ERA in 54 1/3 innings for Milwaukee, but he has been much better in relief than out of the rotation. The 29-year-old has a 3.07 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings out of the bullpen against a 6.48 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 25 innings as a starter.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/10/2013) Brewers pitcher Alfredo Figaro continues to feel discomfort in his right rib cage, so he will not return for the Arizona series this weekend, according to MLB.com. There is no timetable for his return.

Alfredo Figaro allows season-high six runs

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6/23/2013) Brewers pitcher Alfredo Figaro had his worst start of the season Sunday against the Braves, surrendering six earned runs on nine hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out four, but allowed three home runs to take his second straight loss.

Figaro is 1-2 with a 4.64 ERA through 21 appearances (five starts). He may start Saturday against the Pirates unless the team activates one of two injured pitchers on rehab assignments.

Alfredo Figaro takes step back

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(6/19/2013) Brewers pitcher Alfredo Figaro, who pitched seven shutout innings in his previous start, took a step back as he suffered his first loss of the season Tuesday night against the Astros. Figaro (1-1) surrendered five runs -- four earned -- on five hits and two walks while striking out three in 4 1/3 innings in a 10-1 loss.

Figaro has allowed eight earned runs over his last 16 2/3 innings. He has a 3.88 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP in 20 appearances (four starts). He is scheduled to make his next start Sunday at home against the Braves.

Alfredo Figaro interesting but still NL-only material

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/17/2013) Owned in 16 percent of leagues and coming off a 30-point Week 11 performance, it might be time to take a deeper look at Brewers starter Alfredo Figaro, as the 28-year-old righty is about to bring his 3.47 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 7.1 K/9 into a two-start week.

Figaro pitched in Japan the last two seasons, producing decent numbers (3.31 ERA, 1.29 WHIP), but nothing spectacular. He did return to the majors with some uptick in velocity; while Figaro averaged about 93 mph in 2009 and 2010, he's hitting around 95 this season.

Granted, much of his 2013 data came as a reliever, but in Figaro's three starts, his fastball has averaged 95.3, 95.3 and 96. And in his last two starts, with Figaro averaging 91 pitches, he has a 2.92 ERA and 0.81 WHIP, with 10 strikeouts in 12 1/3 innings.

If he can maintain the velocity increase as a starter, Figaro could be mixed-league worthy before long. For now, though, even with the two-start week, it may be safer to keep him as a NL-only starter.

Alfredo Figaro pitches seven scoreless innings for first win

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6/12/2013) Brewers pitcher Alfredo Figaro made his third start of the year Wednesday against the Marlins and earned his first win, pitching seven shutout innings and allowing just three hits while striking out four and walking none.

Figaro hasn't walked a batter in 15 2/3 innings over two starts and one relief appearance in June. The Brewers are off Thursday and Monday, which could lead them to juggle their rotation, but Figaro should see his next start against the Astros.

Alfredo Figaro escapes with no-decision

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(6/7/2013) Brewers pitcher Alfredo Figaro was hit hard but escaped with a no-decision Friday night against the Phillies.

Figaro, who made his second start of the season, surrendered a run-scoring single to Jimmy Rollins in the first and three more runs in the fourth, including a two-run home run to Erik Kratz. The right-hander permitted four runs on seven hits while striking out six in 5 1/3 innings.

Figaro has allowed four runs in each of his first two starts. He is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday at Miami.

Alfredo Figaro moving into Brewers' rotation

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(6/3/2013) Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said reliever Alfredo Figaro will replace Mike Fiers in the team's rotation after Fiers was optioned to the minors Monday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Figaro has mostly pitched in relief for Milwaukee this season, but he made one start May 24 against the Twins, allowing four runs in five innings.

Alfredo Figaro roughed up in no-decision

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(5/29/2013) Brewers pitcher Alfredo Figaro endured a rough outing but escaped with a no-decision during Tuesday's spot start against the Twins.

Figaro had a hard time keeping the ball in the park as he served up home runs to Ryan Doumit, Josh Willingham and Aaron Hicks. The right-hander was charged with four runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four in five innings of work in a 6-5 defeat in extras.

Figaro has a 4.06 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP over 31 innings pitched this season. He is scheduled to make his second start of the season Sunday at Philadelphia.

Alfredo Figaro set to start Tuesday

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(5/27/2013) The Brewers have changed their plans for Tuesday's starter against the Twins a number of times already, so what's one more? MLB.com reports Monday that pitcher Alfredo Figaro is, in fact, scheduled to take the mound Tuesday to start the game, barring an unforeseen circumstance Monday in which the team needs him to pitch.

If Figaro is used Monday and cannot go Tuesday, the team has already established a Plan B, according to manager Ron Roenicke.
