(12/26/2013) Free agent pitcher Guillermo Moscoso has agreed to terms on a deal with the Yokohama BayStars of the Nippon Professional Baseball league, Nikkan Sports reports. In 13 appearances, including two starts, Moscoso went 2-2 with a 5.10 ERA with the Giants in 2013.

Moscoso has pitched for four different major-league teams over the last four years. The move removes him from the 40-man roster.

Moscoso last pitched on Sept. 21 in relief at New York. He has made one start this season and 12 appearances total. He has a 4.21 ERA with 27 strikeouts over 25 2/3 innings pitched.

(8/4/2013) Giants pitcher Guillermo Moscoso endured a rough outing as he received a no-decision Sunday afternoon against Rays. The right-hander yielded three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three over 4 2/3 innings of a 4-3 defeat.

Moscoso owns a 6.14 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP through 7 1/3 innings pitched this season. He is scheduled to make his next start Friday at home against the Orioles.

Moscoso recently joined the team and has appeared in one game, allowing two runs in 2 2/3 innings. It is not yet clear how long he is expected to remain in the rotation.

Barry Zito, who has allowed 11 earned runs over his last 10 innings pitched, could lose his spot in the rotation to Guillermo Moscoso. Both pitchers will be available out of the bullpen Thursday against the Phillies, according to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.

(7/26/2013) The Giants announced a minor trade Friday, as they acquired pitcher Guillermo Moscoso from the Cubs for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Moscoso is expected to be in uniform Saturday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Moscoso has yet to appear in the majors this season, but had a 3.93 ERA in 94 innings for Triple-A Iowa. He last appeared with the Rockies in 2012, and has spent parts of four seasons in the majors.

He was waived by the Royals Wednesday after allowing five earned runs on seven hits and three walks in five innings this spring. He spent 2012 with the Rockies, where he posted an ugly 6.12 ERA in 50 innings over 23 appearances (three starts) and a nearly identical 6.13 ERA in 18 Triple-A starts at Colorado Springs. Moscoso could be in the mix to make the 25-man roster if Casey Janssen isn't ready by opening day.

(3/7/2013) Royals pitcher Guillermo Moscoso had a good start to the spring, but undid much of that good work Thursday against the Mariners. Moscoso, making his third appearance of the spring, needed 36 pitches to finish one inning of work, as he allowed five earned runs. Moscoso walked a pair of batters and allowed four hits, while striking out just one batter. Moscoso had not allowed a run in Cactus League action prior to Thursday, but he raised his ERA to 9.00 with the outing.

Moscoso, who was claimed by the Royals last November after being released by the Rockies, earned the start and finished with two strikeouts and a walk. The 29-year-old went 3-2 with a career-high 6.12 ERA in 23 appearances (three starts) with Colorado last season.
