Trio of White Sox players opt for free agency

(10/7/2013) ESPN.com reports that catcher Hector Gimenez and relievers Brian Omogrosso and Leyson Septimo all elected free agency Monday. Gimenez and Omogrosso both played for the White Sox this season, while Septimo pitched for their Triple-A affiliate in Charlotte.

Gimenez batted .191 in 26 games, while Omogrosso went 0-2 with a 9.37 ERA in 12 appearances.


Leyson Septimo activated, optioned

(6/11/2013) White Sox reliever Leyson Septimo has been activated from the disabled list, and has been optioned to Triple-A. 

Septimo has been sidelined with shoulder soreness all season. His first rehab assignment was cut short after some arm soreness, but is ready to return. He was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte, and has not pitched in the majors this season.

Out all year with a left shoulder strain, Septimo began a rehab assignment recently. He will not be eligible to return until May 22.

(4/26/2013) White Sox relief pitcher Leyson Septimo has been assigned to Triple-A Charlotte to begin his rehab assignment, MLB.com reports. He posted a 1.31 ERA in 34 1/3 innings with Charlotte in 2012 while striking out 43 batters.

Out of options, Septimo will have to be put on the 25-man roster or exposed to waivers once his rehab assignment is over.

(3/7/2013) Comcast SportsNet Chicago reports that White Sox reliever Leyson Septimo was forced out of Thursday's Cactus League contest against the Cubs with an undisclosed injury. Septimo, who came on to pitch the ninth inning, allowed a two-run home run to Christian Villanueva before getting pulled from the game. He allowed two runs on one hit over 2/3 innings of work. He also walked one before leaving the game.

He pitched 1 2/3 innings, giving up three unearned runs on one hit. Septimo also struck out one and walked one while taking the loss in the 9-7 defeat.
