(4/27/2010) The Dodgers need a spot starter Wednesday and 23-year-old right-hander John Ely, obtained with Jon Link in the Juan Pierre deal, is the leading candidate, according to MLB.com. Josh Towers had been rumored to be the likely fill-in, but that was before the Dodgers moved up Charlie Haeger to start on three-day's rest and Monday's game was rained out, forcing a Tuesday doubleheader. Other candidates were Double-A right-hander Jesus Castillo and Triple-A left-hander Scott Elbert.
