by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Viciedo has been a full-time starter for Chicago, but his production has been limited. He owns a stat line of .242/.294/.404 with nine home runs in 302 at-bats. He would come relatively cheaply for any trade suitor. He is earning $2.8 million this season and is under team control through 2017.

Dayan Viciedo cools off, but still boasts strong stats for Sox

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/30/2014) One disturbing statistic pops up in examination of the numbers combiled recently by White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo. That is, zero RBI in the last eight games.

Viciedo has otherwise been fine, though a 13-for-24 tear has been followed by a 3-for-16 mini-slump and a hitless streak that has reached six at-bats. He still owns an impressive .341/.406/.506 stat line and has scored 12 runs.

It was the second straight day Viciedo produced two RBI and multiple hits. He also scored three runs Sunday. Sunday was also the first time he homered all year.

Viciedo is batting .370 (10 for 27) with a .593 slugging percentage and .985 OPS in his last seven games. He has one home run, three doubles and five RBI in that span.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/10/2014) White Sox manager Robin Ventura said outfielder Dayan Viciedo "will get majority" of playing time in right field now that Avisail Garcia is out for the season due to a shoulder injury. Jordan Danks will be the backup in right field.

White Sox move forward without Avisail Garcia in outfield

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/10/2014) In the first game after it was announced outfielder Avisail Garcia would miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury, the White Sox aligned their outfield with Alejandro De Aza in left field, Adam Eaton in center field and Dayan Viciedo replacing Garcia in right field Thursday vs. Cleveland.

Viciedo and De Aza are likely to see more playing time in Garcia's absence. Jordan Danks, who was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, is likely to work into the outfield mix as well. The White Sox have Leury Garcia listed as a reserve outfielder on the team's depth chart, but he has yet to make a start in the outfield this season.

Trio of White Sox make 2014 starting debut Saturday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Dayan Viciedo dealing with platoon situation

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/2/2014) White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo has accepted his new status as a platoon player, but could find himself sitting permanently this season if Alejandro De Aza continues to rake.

Viciedo has been slated to play mostly against left-handers. De Aza, however, enjoyed a sensational spring and slugged two home runs in the season opener. Viciedo is still hoping to emerge as an every-day player and has been working on his patience and selectivity at the plate.

"Right now, you have to deal with what you have," he told MLB.com. "You have to stay sharp. So when you get a chance to play, then you are able to do that and be able to help the team."

White Sox LF situation will be merit-based decision

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/31/2014) White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said playing time in left field between Alejandro De Aza and Dayan Viciedo will be merit-based and not because a righty or lefty is on the mound.

"[Manager] Robin [Ventura] is going to fill out the lineup card with options that give him the best chance to win on a given day," Hahn told MLB.com concerning the De Aza/Viciedo split. "Conceivably it breaks down into a straight left-right platoon, but I don't think it's going to be just that simplistic.

"Sometimes the defense is going to factor into it. Sometimes the player's individual history against a pitcher is going to factor into it, as well as physical or clubhouse issues that the world is not privy to could impact who is in the lineup on a given day."

White Sox getting calls on Alejandro De Aza, Dayan Viciedo

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(3/6/2014) The White Sox are getting calls about outfielders Alejandro De Aza and Dayan Viciedo, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

With the acquisition of Adam Eaton, De Aza and Viciedo are competing for the job in left. The club has needs in other areas, and may consider dealing one in order to shore up other positions. De Aza was solid last season, hitting .264/.323/.405 in 607 at-bats. Viciedo hit .265/.304/.426 in 441 at-bats.

Dayan Viciedo ready to build off late season surge

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/30/2014) Injuries played a big part in White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo struggling through the 2013 season. He dealt with an oblique strain in April and then a left thumb injury in August.

However, Viciedo did get hot late in the season, batting .320 with a .504 slugging percentage, .852 OPS, five home runs, eight doubles and 24 RBI in his last 34 games. Viciedo said he's healthy heading into spring training and focusing on making "little adjustments" to his swing, per MLB.com.

"At the end of the season last year, I tried to work hard to finish strong," Viciedo said through interpreter and White Sox director of public relations Lou Hernandez last weekend at SoxFest. "I dealt with an injury and I felt like I finished in a good place. Since the offseason started, I've just tried to focus and mentally get myself ready and work hard for spring training."

Though, Viciedo will be in a little different of a position in 2014 than he was last season. The offseason addition of Adam Eaton pushes Alejandro De Aza to left field, where he's expected to platoon with Viciedo.

"My job is to do exactly what they want me to do, when they want me to do it. When I'm called upon, I have to go out there and I have to perform," Viciedo said. "I think as long as I focus on doing what I have to do to prepare myself and being prepared for whatever I'm asked to do, I'm ready."
