Athletics sign Sergio Perez

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/16/2013) The Athletics have signed RHP Sergio Perez to a minor-league deal. He had been in the Astros minor-league system since being taken in the second round of the 2006 amateur draft. After spending most of his career as a starting pitcher, Perez worked out of the bullpen for most of 2012, going 4-2 with a 4.54 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 59 strikeouts in 75 1/3 innings over 40 appearances (four starts). He will likely serve as minor-league depth for the A's.
