The double put the Twins up 5-1, which was big since the Orioles put up two runs in the top of the eighth.

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7/7/2015) The Twins have optioned catcher Chris Herrmann to Triple-A Rochester following Tuesday's game. Hermann, who has been backing up starter Kurt Suzuki this year, has 10 hits in 64 at-bats, including a home run and eight RBI.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/2/2015) The Twins have optioned catchers Josmil Pinto and Eric Fryer to Triple-A Rochester, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Pinto dealt with concussion issues late in the spring and went 6 for 17 in seven games of action. He could be back before long once he's received enough at-bats. Fryer was 9 for 32 with one home run this spring.

With the moves, the Twins are set to open the season with Kurt Suzuki as the starting catcher and Chris Herrmann as the backup.

Twins' Molitor: Pinto, Herrmann Fryer competing for backup catcher spot

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2/24/2015) Twins manager Paul Molitor told reporters on Tuesday that there is a three-man race between Josmil Pinto, Chris Herrmann and Eric Fryer for the club's backup role behind Kurt Suzuki, per MLB.com.

"That's going to be an interesting competition," Molitor said. "There's different criteria you can consider. Do you want the guy that is going to be your best defender for 30-40 games or you want to have the offense and hopefully have enough defense? I'm open-minded."

At this point, Pinto may be the early favorite because of his threat at the plate. He hit 257/.339/.445 with 11 homers and 30 RBIs in 78 career games with Minnesota. Herrmann slashed .194/.264/.284 hitter in 97 games over parts of three years with the Twins. Fryer is hitting .246 in 50 career games.
