Manuel Pina sent to Detroit in minors move

(6/11/2014) The Mariners traded minor-league catcher Manuel Pina to Detroit Wednesday, according to Double-A Jackson's broadcaster. Pina has been assigned to Triple-A Toledo.

Pina was hitting .279/.362/.443 at Jackson.

(3/4/2014) Mariners catcher Manuel Pina is dealing with a strained oblique, according to the MLB.com.

Pina will need a couple of weeks to recover from the injury. Pina was signed to a minor-league contract during the offseason.

Both players will be invited to spring training. Pina was with the Royals last season. Kensing was with the Rockies.
