Phillies option OF Jordan Danks to Triple-A Lehigh Valley

(4/5/2015) The Phillies optioned outfielder Jordan Danks to Triple-A Lehigh Valley Sunday.

Danks lost out to Jeff Francoeur in the battle for the team's final outfield spot. He hit .256/.347/.372 in 43 spring at-bats.


Grady Sizemore the favorite to start in right field for Phillies?

(4/2/2015) It appears Phillies outfielder Grady Sizemore is on track to be the team's Opening Day starter in right field with Domonic Brown sidelined due to injury, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Sizemore started a third straight spring game in right field Thursday against the Rays, which could be a strong indication of manager Ryne Sandberg's plans for right field with Brown on the disabled list.

The other remaining candidates to start in right field are Jordan Danks and Jeff Francoeur.

While Sizemore appears to be the favorite to start in right field, he is not having a strong performance offensively this spring. He is batting just .200 (9 for 45) with no extra-base hits, three RBI, four walks, five strikeouts and six runs in 17 games.

(3/31/2015) Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. confirmed Tuesday that outfielder Domonic Brown will indeed start the season on the 15-day disabled list, according to Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.

"It's the right thing to do physically and also with regards to his preparedness," Amaro said, per the Inquirer. "We want to make sure that he's playing well, getting his legs underneath him, swinging the bat and doing the things he needs to do to get ready for the season to help us in Philadelphia."

Brown is dealing with left Achilles tendinitis. Brian Bogusevic, Jordan Danks, Jeff Francoeur are all viable candidates to replace Brown at right field to start the season.

(3/30/2015) Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Monday outfielder Domonic Brown is likely to open the season on the disabled list, per MLB.com. Brown has been sidelined since leaving a March 19 spring game due to Achillies tendinitis.

With Brown sidelined, Amaro said the top candidates to replace him in right field are Brian Bogusevic, Jordan Danks, Jeff Francoeur and Russ Canzler. Odubel Herrera is expected to start in center field and Ben Revere in left field for Philadelphia.

Eaton was removed from his last two games with the issue. He had been on fire before the injury set in with 39 hits in a 21-game stretch that sent his average soaring from .265 to .309.

(4/10/2014) In the first game after it was announced outfielder Avisail Garcia would miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury, the White Sox aligned their outfield with Alejandro De Aza in left field, Adam Eaton in center field and Dayan Viciedo replacing Garcia in right field Thursday vs. Cleveland.

Viciedo and De Aza are likely to see more playing time in Garcia's absence. Jordan Danks, who was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, is likely to work into the outfield mix as well. The White Sox have Leury Garcia listed as a reserve outfielder on the team's depth chart, but he has yet to make a start in the outfield this season.

Danks was batting .182 (4 for 22) with one home run and four RBI in six games with Charlotte after hitting .333 (14 for 42) with a team-high five homers and 10 RBI in 20 games during spring training.

(9/16/2013) White Sox outfielder Jordan Danks had a nice game during a rout of the Minnesota Twins on Monday night. Danks had two hits and two RBI in the contest.

Danks finished the game 2 for 4 with two runs scored. He added a walk as he doubled for one of his two hits. Danks' other hit was his fourth home run of the season.

The 27-year-old brother of John Danks has hits in three straight games and just nine RBI on the year over 125 at-bats.

Danks' single to center in the eighth, however, was the big one as it played two runs to give Chicago its first and last lead of the game.

The center fielder went 3 for 4 with two RBI and is batting .261. He's gone 7 for 13 with four doubles, a homer and four runs driven in over his last five appearances for Chicago.

(5/6/2013) White Sox outfielder Jordan Danks delievered the game-winning home run in the 11th inning of Monday's 2-1 win at Kansas City. Danks, who entered the game as a pinch runner in the ninth, hit his first home run of the season on a 3-1 pitch off Kelvin Herrera.

It could have been a two-run homer, but Alex Rios was caught stealing two pitches earlier. Danks is 3 for 13 (.231) with two RBI in seven games.

(5/2/2013) White Sox outfielder Jordan Danks did not appear in Thursday's game against the Rangers, but he believes his sore right knee is healthy enough that he can play.

"There's a little fluid in the knee, but there's no pain at all. Really, it's just kind of range of motion," Danks told MLB.com. "We tried to drain it [Wednesday] and it was a little too thick. It's just whenever I'm ready to run again."

Danks is more of a reserve outfielder for the White Sox , having appeared in just six games this season, four of them starts.
