Carlos Rivera cranks out first career homer Wednesday

(9/10/2014) Red Sox infielder Carlos Rivero slammed the first home run of his career Wednesday against Baltimore as he continued his hot start with the team.

Rivero blasted off for a three-run job in the ninth inning to cut the deficit to 10-6. He has three hits in six at-bats for Boston over the last two games.

(8/24/2014) The Red Sox have called up infielder Carlos Rivero , WEEI.com reports. He has hit .264/.324/.379 with seven home runs and 53 RBI in 390 at-bats between Double-A and Triple-A.

Red Sox sign two minor league free agents

(12/16/2013) According to Baseball America, the Red Sox signed reliever Dayan Diaz and third baseman Carlos Rivero to minor league deals.

Diaz pitched at three levels in 2013, finishing with the Cubs' Double-A affiliate at Tennessee, and compiling a 3.00 ERA in 21 total innings.

Rivero comes from the Nationals organization and split last season between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse, batting .242 with five home runs.


Christian Garcia to DL, Carlos Rivero to minors

(3/24/2013) The Nationals placed reliever Christian Garcia (forearm) on the 15-day disabled list Sunday and outrighted infielder Carlos Rivero to Triple-A Syracuse.

Garcia's move was retroactive to March 22.
