(5/26/2013) Mets corner infielder Zach Lutz was forced out of Sunday's minor-league game with Triple-A Las Vegas after suffering an oblique injury. The team has yet to issue a timetable for his return.

Lutz is batting .277 with four homers and 26 RBI in 147 at-bats at Triple-A. He hit .343 with three homers and 14 RBI in May before the injury.

(3/30/2013) Mets third baseman Zach Lutz is firmly on the roster bubble as the team heads toward opening day. The Mets will decide Sunday whether second baseman Justin Turner must start the year on the disabled list or if he'll be part of the team's initial 25-man roster.

If Turner is placed on the DL, Lutz will win the final spot on the Mets' opening day roster. He hit .308/.378/.415 in 74 plate appearances this spring.

(2/7/2013) ESPN.com reports Thursday that Mets infielder Zach Lutz will officially to convert to outfielder during spring training. He worked out with outfield coach Tom Goodwin at the team's spring training complex for the first time. “I feel pretty good so far," said Lutz. "I think going to the outfield you just have to be an athlete out there. You have to let your athleticism take over. I talked to Duda about it. He gave me some tips about it.”
