Yamaico Navarro's deal with Korean team finalized

(12/23/2013) ESPN Deportes reports that infielder Yamaico Navarro has officially signed a deal to play for the Samsung Lions in Korea.

Navarro, who was signed by the Yankees in November, reached an agreement with Samsung last week.

(12/20/2013) Yankees infielder Yamaico Navarro, who signed with the team in late November, is close to an agreement to play for Korea's Samsung Lions next season, ESPN reports.

Navarro went 8 for 28 in eight games with the Orioles last season before being designated for assignment. He hit .267/.354/.418 with 12 home runs, 53 RBI and nine stolen bases in 390 at-bats with Triple-A Norfolk in 2013.

(6/18/2013) The Orioles designated infielder Yamaico Navarro for assignment Tuesday. Navarro played in eight games with the Orioles earlier in the year and went 8 for 28 (.286) with two RBI. 

Navarro was batting .254 over 207 plate appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. He's likely to clear waivers and remain in the organization.

(5/27/2013) Orioles second baseman Yamaico Navarro had a nice game at the plate Monday in Washington. Navarro recorded two hits and two RBI. 

His single to left in the fourth inning drove home Chris Davis and Navarro added another RBI single in the seventh inning. It was his first two RBI on the year after seven games. 

Navarro has hit in all but two of the games in which he's appeared and that gives him a .320 average.

(5/21/2013) Orioles second baseman Yamaico Navarro is in the team's starting lineup Tuesday.

Navarro has been getting a fair share of playing time with the team after he was called up. He received a breather Sunday, in favor of Alexi Casilla. Navarro has three hits in nine at-bats this season. He'll face Yankees starter Phil Hughes Tuesday.

Navarro, poised for his second stint with the parent club this season, was hitting .341 with a .431 on-base percentage over his past 10 games with Norfolk.

(3/23/2013) The Orioles cut two infielders on Saturday, as Jonathan Schoop and Yamaico Navarro were sent out of camp, reports MLB.com.

Schoop, a star for Team Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic, saw limited at-bats for the Orioles in the Grapefruit League but went 4 for 6 with a home run and four RBI. He will likely begin the season at Triple-A Norfolk and is considered the No. 3 prospect in the organization by Baseball America.

Navarro, 25, hit .276 this spring over 29 at-bats with four RBI. He never really had a chance to make the opening day roster.
