The right-hander permitted one run on six hits and two walks while striking out four over 5 2/3 innings of a 4-2 victory.

Over his last two starts covering 10 2/3 innings, Turner has allowed only three earned runs. He owns a 5.69 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP over 74 1/3 innings of work. He'll be seeking his third straight win on Friday at home against Cincinnati.

Jacob Turner earns the win Tuesday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(7/22/2014) Marlins pitcher Jacob Turner turned in a solid start Tuesday against the Braves.

Turner ran into trouble early, but was able to pitch around any big plays. After giving up a single with the bases loaded, Turner was able to escape the first inning after inducing a double-play. A Justin Upton home run was the only other blemish against his stat-line.

Turner tossed five innings, giving up two runs on four hits. He struck out four and walked two. The win brings Turner to 3-6 on the year. He’ll take on the Astros in his next outing.

Jacob Turner returning to rotation Tuesday

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/20/2014) Marlins pitcher Jacob Turner will make his return to the rotation Tuesday against the Braves. Turner has been pitching in relief since mid-June, posting a 5.74 ERA over eight relief appearances.

"It's all consistency, right?" manager Mike Redmond said, per FOX Sports Florida. "We've seen this guy pitch good games and we need him to step up. We tried to punch different guys in that spot. We've talked about it before with (Randy Wolf) and Brad Hand. Having guys step up and fill those spots. It's a huge opportunity for them.

"Pitching is the key to our success. We're not going to be able to score five, six runs as much as I'd like to say we can do that. There are going to be nights when we don't score and we have to pitch. We need those guys to step up and fill those spots in the rotation and give us a chance to win ballgames. That's where we're at. Jake is coming out of the bullpen and this is another opportunity for him to show us he can win at the big-league level."
