White Sox kick five off roster

by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com
(3/19/2013) The White Sox made another round of roster cuts Tuesday, optioning pitcher Deunte Heath and third baseman Brent Morel to Triple-A Charlotte. Chicago also reassigned pitchers Daniel Moskos and Zach Stewart and shortstop Carlos Sanchez to its minor-league camp.

Morel plays some shortstop

(3/1/2013) White Sox infielder Brent Morel played three innings at shortstop on Thursday, saying that if he isn't going to win the third base job, he can at least show some versatility and try to make the team as a utility infielder. “If they want me to play other positions and that’s going to get me to break camp on that 25-man roster, then I’ll do anything,’’ Morel told the Sun Times.

Morel ready to show versatility

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2/14/2013) White Sox manager Robin Ventura told Comcast SportsNet Chicago that third baseman Brent Morel could earn some looks at other infield spots in spring to give him more versatility. According to Ventura, Morel is fully recovered from a back issue that lingered all last season and has shown better bat speed. “A slight injury, it just makes guys look different in the way they move around and for him he’s swinging the bat free and easy,” Ventura said. “It’s different when you get some spikes on and when you’re running around and doing stuff. His [injury situation] is more of longevity of being able to stay and play nice and loose.”

Morel in mix at third base

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(1/26/2013) Chicago third baseman Brent Morel is still in the mix to start at third for the Sox this season, reports the Chicago Tribune. Manager Robin Ventura said Morel remains a possibility for the position. He was limited to just 35 games last season due to injury before finishing his year at Triple-A Charlotte.
