Rockies' Yohan Flande allows two runs in five innings on Tuesday

(9/1/2015) Rockies starter Yohan Flande had a decent outing against the Diamondbacks in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader. Flande allowed two runs on five hits in five innings of work. He walked three and struck out five, but came away with a no-decision.

Flande surrendered a towering solo home run to Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the top of the second inning, putting the Rockies in an early 1-0 hole. But the Rockies tied it up in the bottom half, only for Flande to give the lead back an inning later. 

Flande left the game trailing 2-1, but the Rockies tied the game up. The D-Backs rallied one last time and held on for the 6-4 final. 

The 29-year-old left-hander has made seven starts for the Rockies this year, and is 2-0 with a 4.07 ERA in those outings.


Rockies SP Yohan Flande earns no-decision

(8/26/2015) Yohan Flande pitched well enough to pick up a win for the Rockies, but wasn't around when his teammates rallied against the Braves, earning a no-decision for his efforts. 

Flande allowed three runs in six innings of work, but he wasn't sharp, walking five batters and giving up two home runs. 

Flande has given up eight home runs in his last four starts, but is 1-0 with three no-decisions over that timeframe.

(8/21/2015) It's not saying much for a second-year pitcher with a 2-7 lifetime record and 4.79 ERA, but Rockies southpaw Yohan Flande managed the finest performance of his career Thursday night.

Flande outpitched Max Scherzer in beating Washington. He allowed two runs on just three hits in seven innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

His long mistake was slugged over the fence by Michael Taylor in the seventh to turn a 2-0 lead into a 2-2 tie. But the Rockies scored in the bottom of the inning to give Flande the victory.

Flande has been pitching better of late with 12 runs given up in his last 28 2/3 innings.

(8/15/2015) Rockies starting pitcher Yohan Flande allowed four runs in a no-decision against the Padres on Friday.

Flande (2-1) gave up eight hits in six innings of work. He allowed two home runs in what was a spotty outing.

"Flande did a good job," manager Walt Weiss said, per MLB.com. "He gave up some runs early and really pitched well after that. He always throws strikes. He always works fast and has the ability to put the ball on the ground. He did all those things tonight."

Flande lasted just 4 2/3 innings after allowing three runs on six hits. He gave up three solo home runs in the matchup.

Flande (2-1) received a no-decision, but his ERA spiked to 3.86 on the season.


Eddie Butler to pitch Saturday, Yohan Flande Sunday for Rockies

(8/7/2015) Rockies starters Yohan Flande and Eddie Butler have been flip-flopped in the rotation after the former was forced into a relief appearance Wednesday, per MLB.com.

Butler has been moved up to Saturday in Washington with Flande going Sunday instead.

"Having the off-day [Thursday] allowed us to rearrange it a little bit," Walt Weiss said.

Flande allowed two runs on four hits over five innings. After allowing three walks in his first start, on July 28, Flande didn't walk a batter on Sunday.

These moves were made after placing pitcher Christian Bergman on the disabled list due to right shoulder fatigue and moving pitcher John Axford on the temporary inactive list. 

Rockies call up Chris Rusin for spot start on Tuesday

(5/26/2015) The Rockies have called up pitcher Chris Rusin to make a spot start on Tuesday agianst the Reds, the team announced. Rusin will get the call after Jorge De La Rosa suffered a cut on his hand and was scratched from his scheduled start.

Rusin is 3-2 with a 6.29 ERA in six starts this season in Triple-A Albuquerque. The team has optioned Yohan Flande back to Triple-A in a corresponding roster move.

(5/14/2015) The Rockies recalled pitcher Yohan Flande from Double-A New Britain on Thursday and optioned infielder Rafael Ynoa to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Flande struggled with the Rockies in 10 starts and six relief appearances last year but was 5-0 with a 1.36 ERA and 30:4 K:BB ratio in 39 2/3 innings with New Britain. Ynoa has hit .241/.269/.310 in 29 at-bats with the Rockies.

(9/25/2014) Rockies pitcher Yohan Flande took a loss Wednesday, giving up four earned runs on four hits and one walk in four innings while striking out four in his team's 4-3 defeat against the Padres.

Flande (0-6) was given a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but surrendered a three-run blast of his own in the bottom half of the inning. The Padres later tacked on a fourth run on a groundout in the fourth inning. If he isn't used out of the bullpen this weekend, Flande will finish the year with a 5.19 ERA and 34:16 K:BB ratio in 59 innings.

(9/18/2014) Rockies pitcher Yohan Flande had to settle for a no-decision Thursday night at home against Arizona. He allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out two over five innings of a 7-6 win.

Flande owns a 4.91 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP over 55 innings of work. He will make his final start of the season on Wednesday at San Diego.

Over his last three starts covering 17 1/3 innings, Flande has allowed 10 earned runs. He owns a 5.52 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over 45 2/3 innings of work. He will make his next start Sunday at home against Miami.

Flande (0-5) loaded the bases with one out in the second inning and escaped with only one run coming home. He gave up a second run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth that followed back-to-back singles. Despite the solid performance, he's still searching for his first win. Flande owns a 5.36 ERA and 20:11 K:BB ratio in 40 1/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Reds Sunday.

(8/7/2014) Rockies pitcher Yohan Flande had a hard time keeping the ball in the park Thursday afternoon at home against the Cubs, dropping to 0-4 on the year.

Flande surrendered home runs to Javier Baez and Starlin Castro in the sixth inning. He was charged with four runs over seven innings and one walk while striking out one over six innings of a 6-2 defeat. Of his 82 pitches, 53 were strikes.

Flande (0-4) owns a 5.77 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP through 34 1/3 innings of work. His next start will come Tuesday in San Diego.

Franklin Morales sent to bullpen, Yohan Flande to start Thursday

(8/5/2014) The Rockies have decided to move pitcher Franklin Morales to the bullpen, and Yohan Flande is scheduled to start Thursday instead, the Denver Post reports.

Morales owns a 5.14 ERA and 70:49 K:BB ratio in 103 1/3 innings over 25 games (16 starts). Jordan Lyles' return Wednesday was set to push someone to the bullpen, and Morales is the one who drew the short straw.

Flande allowed two runs on four hits over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out eight and walked one during the outing. Flande ran into trouble in the fourth inning. After giving up a single and a double to open the frame, Flande gave up an RBI ground out. After an intentional walk, Flande allowed a sac fly. The Rockies scored just one run during the game, giving Flande the loss.

Flande is slated to take on the Tigers during his next start.

(7/23/2014) Rockies pitcher Yohan Flande had a tough start Tuesday against the Nationals.

Flande allowed four runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked two, and did not record any strikeouts during the outing. Flande was solid to open the game, tossing four scoreless innings. He ran into trouble in the fifth. After giving up a walk and a double to start the inning, Flande allowed a run to score on a Wilson Ramos groundout. Jordan Zimmermann added to the scoring with a sacrifice fly. 

The following inning was also troublesome for Flande. Ryan Zimmerman was able to knock in a run on a groundout, while Ramos managed to single in another run. Flande was pulled before either run scored, but he was responsible for both hitters. 

Flande managed to escape with a no-decision. His next start is slated to come against the Cubs.
