Javy Guerra throws two perfect innings in victory

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/9/2014) White Sox reliever Javy Guerra pitched two perfect innings to earn the win in Monday's 5-4, 12-inning victory over the Athletics. Guerra (2-3) struck out one and lowered his ERA to 2.61.

Javy Guerra brought back from bereavement leave

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/23/2014) As expected, White Sox pitcher Javy Guerra made his return to the team Saturday, after spending a week on the bereavement list. A corresponding move to clear up a roster space has not been announced.

Javy Guerra should be activated Saturday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(8/22/2014) White Sox reliever Javy Guerra should be activated Saturday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times

Guerra spent some time on the bereavement list, but is ready to return. He's posted a 3.00 ERA over 33 innings.

White Sox busy Saturday with minor roster moves

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/16/2014) The White Sox made several roster moves Saturday, including the activation off the 60-day disabled list of outfielder Avisail Garcia.

The team also played outfielder Moises Sierra on the DL with a strained left oblique, designated left-handed pitcher Charlie Leesman for assignment, placed right-hander Javy Guerra on the bereavement list and recalled southpaw Eric Surkamp from Triple-A Charlotte.

Javy Guerra takes loss Sunday vs. Twins

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(8/3/2014) White Sox pitcher Javy Guerra was charged with a loss Sunday, giving up three earned runs on four hits and one walk in one inning while striking out one in his team's 16-3 defeat against the Twins.

Guerra (1-3) turned a 3-1 lead into a 4-3 deficit in the sixth inning, but any of the team's five relievers to appear Sunday could have been tacked with a loss, as none pitched a clean inning and the group allowed 15 earned runs in four innings. Guerra owns a 3.45 ERA and 28:14 K:BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings.

Javy Guerra blows it

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/13/2014) White Sox reliever Javy Guerra was entrusted with a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning Sunday, but he couldn't hold it. Guerra (0-2) served up a two-run homer to Cleveland's Yan Gomes and was charged with the loss in the 3-2 defeat.

Guerra allowed two hits and struck out one in one inning of work. His ERA rose to 3.32.

Where else do the White Sox turn for saves?

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/29/2014) We've said it before, but with Ronald Belisario blowing two of his five save opportunities -- and nearly two more -- in his first week and a half on the job, the White Sox have to turn to Daniel Webb pretty soon here, right?

Not that trying out Belisario in the role (which is still technically his, by the way) was a bad call. He's been an effective late-inning reliever before and has been one of the more consistent strike-throwers out of the White Sox bullpen this year. But clearly, he isn't getting a job done.

While he certainly wouldn't pass as a strike-thrower, issuing 18 walks in 26 1/3 innings, Webb has been one of the White Sox's more reliable relievers this season. His ERA isn't as low as Zach Putnam's or Jake Petricka's, but he throws hard, which is what most teams want in a closer, and has a 1.35 ERA in his last 11 appearances.

If Robin Ventura doesn't turn to Webb next, opting for Putnam, Petricka or -- who knows? -- Javy Guerra instead, he's clearly making a deliberate effort to avoid the young right-hander, perhaps because he doesn't trust him to throw strikes.

And perhaps he shouldn't. Truth be told, whoever claims the closer role for the White Sox is about the last closer I'd want in Fantasy, even behind Chad Qualls.

Javy Guerra gets the call

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(5/20/2014) White Sox pitcher Javy Guerra has been called up Tuesday.

Guerra will take the roster spot of Matt Lindstrom, who was placed on the disabled list. Guerra has posted a 2.33 ERA over 19 1/3 innings in Triple-A.

Javy Guerra demoted by White Sox

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3/28/2014) If Javy Guerra wants to jump-start his sagging career with the White Sox, he will have to be promoted by that team first. The right-hander has been sent down to Triple-A Charlotte.

Guerra collapsed in 2013 with the Dodgers and was dispatched to the minors after two strong seasons. He was released on March 16 before signing with Chicago.

Report: Javy Guerra signs with White Sox

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3/26/2014) Right-hander Javy Guerra is about to try to revive his career with the White Sox, sources have told MLBDailyDish.com.

Guerra was among the more effective closers and short relievers in the National League with the Dodgers in 2011 and 2012 before injuries and ineffectiveness landed him in the minors last season. He was designated for assignment by Los Angeles on March 16.

Dodgers designate Javy Guerra for assignment

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/16/2014) The Dodgers designated reliever Javy Guerra for assignment on Sunday, the team announced. Guerra allowed two earned runs on nine hits over eight innings of work through seven Cactus League appearances.

Dodgers option Javy Guerra to Triple-A

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(5/31/2013) The Dodgers optioned reliever Javy Guerra to Triple-A Albuquerque Friday. Guerra posted a 6.75 ERA and a 1.96 WHIP in nine appearances with the Dodgers.

Dodgers recall Javy Guerra, option Josh Wall

by Ed Gauna | CBSSports.com
(4/30/2013) The Dodgers recalled pitcher Javy Guerra from Triple-A Albuquerque Tuesday and optioned Josh Wall to the same affiliate.

Javy Guerra not being converted to starter

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/2/2013) The Dodgers don't intend to convert reliever Javy Guerra into a starter, a source told The Los Angeles Times. He's only in the rotation at Triple-A Albuquerque to get stretched out to about three innings.

Javy Guerra fails to land roster spot

by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com
(3/17/2013) The Dodgers began the daunting task of organizing their bullpen Sunday and optioned relief pitcher Javy Guerra to Triple-A Albuquerque. Guerra was the team's closer for opening day last season, but was plagued by a slew of injuries and ultimately lost the ninth-inning role.

He missed a week of playing time this spring with a strained groin that also prevented him from playing in the World Baseball Classic. Brandon League is lined up to serve as Los Angeles' closer entering this season.

Guerra not worried about injury

(3/10/2013) MLB.com reports Dodgers reliever Javy Guerra was limited by a groin strain when he pitched in a Cactus League game on Saturday. Guerra called the injury "something minor" and doesn't think it will affect him going forward. "When I'm a hair off, it changes everything," Guerra said Sunday. "I know my arm is healthy. The biggest thing is that if my arm is 100 percent, I can pitch with anybody."

Guerra aiming for roster spot

by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com
(3/3/2013) In the span of a year, Dodgers relief pitcher Javy Guerra has devolved from Dodgers closer to fighting for a roster spot during spring training. Guerra dealt with an assortment of injuries last season, including knee surgery, and was yanked from the ninth-inning role. He entered camp finally healthy, but Los Angeles is poised to use Brandon League as its closer to begin the upcoming season. "I was closing; now I'm fighting for a spot," Guerra lamented to MLB.com on Sunday. "It's growth. There are too many great pitchers in this bullpen. There isn't room for everyone. But it comes with maturity, understanding how life works."

Guerra throws pain-free session

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(2/5/2013) MLB.com reports Dodgers reliever Javy Guerra, who had shoulder surgery in November, threw a pain-free bullpen session last week. "(Guerra) isn't as far behind as I thought he'd be," pitching coach Rick Honeycutt said.
