Giants re-assign 12 to minor-league camp

(3/6/2014) The Giants re-assigned right-handers Kyle Crick, Clayton Blackburn, Chris Heston, Jose Casilla, Sandy Rosario and Rafael Dolis, catchers Jeff Arnold and Ben Turner, outfielders Mac Williamson and Javier Herrera, left-handers Ty Blach and infielder Joe Panik to minor-league camp on Thursday.

Dolis had been with the Cubs, but was outrighted off the 40-man roster earlier in the offseason. He has a 5.48 ERA in 44 1/3 career innings.

(1/13/2014) The Giants announced Monday they extended non-roster invitations to 26 players. They were 16 pitchers, four catchers, four infielders and two outfielders.

The pitchers included prospects Clayton Blackburn, Tyson Blach and Kyle Crick. The remaining non-roster pitchers include Jason Berken, Brett Bochy, Jose Casilla, Rafael Dolis, J.C. Gutierrez, Chris Heston, Derek Law, Mitch Lively, Kameron Loe, Adam Reifer, Sandy Rosario, Dan Runzler and Mason Tobin.

The position players included prospects Joe Panik and Mac Williamson. The other non-roster position players include Jeff Arnold, Guillermo Quiroz, Andrew Susac, Ben Turner, Chris Dominguez, Brandon Hicks, Mark Minicozzi and Javier Herrera.


Cubs outright six players off 40-man roster

(10/9/2013) The Cubs outrighted six players off their 40-man roster, MLB.com reports Wednesday.

Outfielder Darnell McDonald, catcher J.C. Boscan and pitcher Trey McNutt all cleared waivers and were outrighted. Additionally, pitchers Rafael Dolis and Zach Putnam and outfielder Thomas Neal were activated from the 60-day disabled list, cleared waivers and were outrighted.

(8/5/2013) The Cubs transferred reliever Rafael Dolis to the 60-day disabled list Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for the addition of Thomas Neal, MLB.com reports. Dolis has been on the shelf since June 1 with a right forearm strain.

(6/1/2013) The Cubs placed reliever Rafael Dolis on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a forearm strain. Dolis appeared in three games since his recall but had not appeared in the five days before being put on the DL.

Dolis has not allowed a run in five innings with the Cubs. Blake Parker was called up from Triple-A Iowa to replace him on the active roster.

Dolis has made two scoreless appearances for Chicago this year. He could be up and down between the majors and minors all year.

Dolis has already appeared with the club this season. He lasted just one day in the majors and threw one-third of an inning before he was demoted. The club designated reliever Kameron Loe to make room for Dolis on the roster.

(4/14/2013) Just a day after being called up, the Cubs have optioned pitcher Rafael Dolis to Triple-A Iowa Sunday to make room for Kameron Loe, who was recently claimed off waivers.

Dolis pitched one-third of an inning Sunday against the Giants. He registered a 3.86 ERA in three appearances for Iowa.

(4/13/2013) The Cubs promoted pitcher Rafael Dolis from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday to take the roster spot of Kyuji Fujikawa after he was moved to the disabled list.

Dolis, who was vying for a bullpen spot during the spring, pitched in three games for Iowa and registered a 3.86 ERA.

The right-hander made a brief appearance as Chicago's closer last season but is not expected to receive chances in the ninth inning this year as the team will use a closer-by-committee approach.

(3/24/2013) The Cubs have optioned reliever Rafael Dolis to Triple-A Iowa, ESPN Chicago reports. Dolis posted a 4.76 ERA in 5.2 spring innings with four walks and just two strikeouts. 

Dolis had a short-lived stint as the Cubs' closer last season, as he recorded four saves, but he was brutal in 38 innings with the team last season. He posted a terrible 6.39 ERA with 24 strikeouts against 23 walks.

(3/23/2013) Cubs reliever Rafael Dolis made his first Cactus League appearance since Sunday against the Angels. After dealing with a blister on his index finger, the right-hander gave up two hits Saturday in a scoreless inning and earned the save in the 7-6 win.

Dolis, who has a 4.76 ERA this spring, is competing for the final spot in the bullpen.

(3/17/2013) Cubs reliever Rafael Dolis left Sunday's Cactus League game against the A's in the sixth inning due to a blister on his index finger. Dolis gave up two hits over 1 1/3 innings before the early exit. He also struck out one and walked one while lowering his spring ERA from 8.10 to 5.79. Dolis is expected to serve as a middle reliever for Chicago this season.
