Ernesto Mejia heading to play in Japan

(4/26/2014) The Braves have released first baseman Ernesto Mejia to allow him to sign with the Seibu Lions of the Japanese Pacific League.

The 28-year-old Mejia had been tearing it up at Triple-A Gwinnett with a stat line of .354/.420/.684, but the Braves did not hold him back.

(3/23/2012) The Atlanta Braves announced their latest wave of cuts Friday and moved the following players to their minor-league camp: Joe Terdoslavich, Christian Bethancourt, Ernesto Mejia, Dusty Hughes and Adam Russell. "We're going to see [Terdoslavich] at Turner Field, and the same thing with Bethancourt," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez told MLB.com. "It's just a matter of them letting us know when they are ready."
