White Sox send eight down

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(3/12/2014) Southpaw Charlie Leesman headlines a group of eight White Sox demoted to the minors on Wednesday. He was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte after appearing in eight games and starting one with Chicago in 2013.

Outfielders Trayce Thompson and Jared Mitchell were sent to Double-A Birmingham while catcher Miguel Gonzalez, pitchers Deunte Heath , Omar Poveda and Scott Snodgrass and outfielder Keenyn Walker were reassigned to minor league camp.

Jared Mitchell placed on minor-league disabled list

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(4/26/2013) White Sox outfield prospect Jared Mitchell was placed on the Double-A disabled list with a strained right oblique, the team announced Friday. Mitchell was moved down to Double-A after beginning the season 7 for 53 with 27 strikeouts at the Triple-A level.

"Once he gets back from that, we are hoping he'll be able to pick up where he was at the end of spring," general manager Rick Hahn told MLB.com. "He'll get there. We all saw it, it's in there. It's a matter of him being able to access that more consistently."

Mitchell was named the organization's No. 5 prospect this preseason by MLB.com.

Jared Mitchell demoted to Double-A

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4/21/2013) It's been an up-and-down year already for White Sox prospect Jared Mitchell and the baseball season is barely underway. After impressing White Sox coaches this spring, Mitchell got off to a slow start at Triple-A Charlotte and was demoted to Double-A Birmingham over the weekend.

Mitchell's demotion comes after hitting a paltry .132 and striking out 27 times in 14 games for Charlotte. Prior to Mitchell's demotion, he was a player featured in this week's Down on the Farm column.

White Sox send four to minors

(3/15/2013) The White Sox optioned outfielder Jared Mitchell, catcher Josh Phegley, pitcher Andre Rienzo and pitcher Jhan Marinez to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Mitchell on ChiSox radar

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(1/27/2013) White Sox outfielder Jared Mitchell has fallen off the prospect radar a bit since missing the 2010 season because of an ankle injury, but he hasn't fallen off the radar of Chicago's front office. "The best news I have about Mitchell, and Robin (Ventura) can attest to this, too, is that after [assistant general manager] Buddy Bell returned from Instructional League this year, he wouldn't shut up about where Jared is and, 'We can't possibly consider moving this guy, because he's ready to bust loose,'" general manager Rick Hahn said, per MLB.com. "Guys who have been working with him since he arrived here on campus are starting to get that excitement in their voice. He has a ton of tools, and it was always a matter at first of how quickly that development would happen. Then it turned out to be how badly that injury would impact him. The injury now seems to be behind him and the swing is getting to the point where our guys are getting excited and hopefully this will be a big year for him."
