Giants cut seven from big-league camp Friday

(3/21/2014) The Giants optioned pitchers Heath Hembree, Erik Cordier and Jake Dunning to Triple-A Fresno Friday.

Hembree allowed just one earned run on one hit and two walks in four innings while striking out five in five Cactus League appearances this spring.

The Giants also reassigned catcher Guillermo Quiroz, first baseman Mark Minicozzi and pitchers Brett Bochy and Adam Reifer to minor-league camp Friday.


Giants claim Erik Cordier off waivers

(11/27/2013) The Giants have claimed pitcher Erik Cordier off waivers from the Pirates and added him to the 40-man roster. He went 4-2 with a 4.58 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 65:28 K:BB ratio in 53 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis last season.

(3/13/2013) The Pirates announced Wednesday they optioned Vic Black, Stolmy Pimentel, Clint Robinson, Jerry Sands, Hunter Strickland and Duke Welker to Triple-A Indianapolis. They also reassigned Erik Cordier, Darren Ford, Matt Hague, Anderson Hernandez and Jameson Taillon to minor-league camp.
