White Sox RP Dan Jennings growing comfortable in bullpen role

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(4/24/2015) White Sox pitcher Dan Jennings has not allowed a run in his last 7 1/3 innings of work and he said he's becoming more comfortable in tight situations, reports the Chicago Tribune.

"Just knowing Robin [Ventura] is excited to get me in there in some good situations, that goes a long way for me," Jennings said. "Being thrown out in situations where it's washed-out games or you're down five, it's hard to pitch that way. Somebody has to do it, and I've done that plenty, but it's really enjoyable to have a manager who is really excited and motivated by you."

Jennings has three holds over his last six appearances and has proven to be a solid late-inning pitcher. Pitching coach Don Cooper said adding a solid left-handed pitcher like Jennings has helped stabilize the bullpen.

"We're a better team than we were last year," Cooper said. "We have three lefties out there, and we like all three. We had no lefties last year, so that in itself is a big thing."

White Sox building Dan Jennings' confidence

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(4/13/2015) The White Sox aquired Dan Jennings over the offseason and have been making adjustments to help unlock the reliever's potential.

Coaches worked with the mechanics of his delivery and had him add a two-seam fastball, but the biggest improvement has been in Jennings' confidence.

Manager Robin Ventura has brought Jennings in with the game on the line twice already this season.

"It’s a great feeling knowing a manager can go to you in that situation and give him another option down there and bridge the gap," Jennings said, per CSN Chicago. "Knowing he has that confidence to give me the ball, it extends to me that confidence to go out there and do the job."
