Correction: Chad Jenkins staying in the minors

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(4/5/2014) Blue Jays pitcher Chad Jenkins will not be called up by the club Saturday.

The team wanted to bring up Jenkins, but a rule mandates he stay in the minors for at least 10 days. Because Jenkins is on the 40-man roster, he cannot be called up until 10 days after he was optioned unless he's an injury replacement. The team opted to call up Marcus Walden instead.

Blue Jays shuffle back of bullpen

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4/5/2014) The Blue Jays made a minor roster move after Friday's loss to the Yankees, as they designated reliever Jeremy Jefress for assignment and recalled Chad Jenkins to replace him in the bullpen.

Jeffress saw his ERA rise to 10.80 after allowing one run on three hits in one inning Friday. Jenkins posted a 2.70 in 10 appearances a year ago, and was set to open the season for Triple-A Buffalo before getting the call.

Blue Jays option three players Sunday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(3/16/2014) The Blue Jays have optioned three players to the minors Sunday, according to MLB.com.

Sean Nolin, Kyle Drabek and Chad Jenkins will be sent down. All three players saw limited time in the majors last year, and could be in line for more work depending on how well the Blue Jays' rotation performs.

Chad Jenkins gets the call

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/24/2013) The Blue Jays made a pair of roster moves Saturday, calling up starting pitcher Chien-Ming Wang and Chad Jenkins, while placing Maicer Izturis on the 60-day disabled list.

Jenkins made three starts earlier in the season, allowing six runs over 15 innings of work. He will likely pitch out of the bullpen, according to the team's radio broadcast.

Chad Jenkins needs more time to develop

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(6/10/2013) The Blue Jays signing of starting pitcher Chien-Ming Wang was in part because the team feels starting pitcher Chad Jenkins, who has made three "emergency" starts this season, needs more time to develop in the minors, according to the National Post. Jenkins is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in 2013 and 2-3 with a 4.21 ERA in 16 career appearances (six starts) for Toronto.

"It’s really a comparison to Chad, is what it comes down to," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. "In this scenario, we get to option Chad and keep him, because right now he would be the next starter. We get to see if Wang might be an upgrade there. If things don’t work out with Wang, Chad’s still here and Chad could come right back up. But if Chad makes that start [Tuesday at Chicago] and something happens to some other starter, or Chad doesn’t perform, I don’t know who the next guy would be right now."

Chad Jenkins no longer starting Tuesday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(6/7/2013) Blue Jays starter Chad Jenkins is unlikely to start Tuesday with Chien-Ming Wang in the fold.

Wang was picked up by the team Friday, and is expected to make Tuesday's start against the White Sox. Jenkins was thought to be the favorite to receive the start. Jenkins has a 3.60 ERA in three major-league starts this year.

Chad Jenkins will start Tuesday for Blue Jays

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(6/7/2013) Blue Jays pitcher Chad Jenkins will be called up to make a start with the club Tuesday against the White Sox.

The team has been using four starters recently, but will need a fifth next Tuesday. Jenkins has made three starts with the club this year. Through 15 innings, he has a 3.60 ERA.

Chad Jenkins sent down after start

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(6/1/2013) The Blue Jays optioned pitcher Chad Jenkins to Triple-A Buffalo Saturday to make room on the active roster for Mickey Storey.

Jenkins made his third spot start of the season Friday against the Padres, allowing two runs in five innings. He has a 3.60 ERA in 15 innings.

Chad Jenkins surrenders three runs on three hits

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(6/1/2013) Blue Jays starting pitcher Chad Jenkins allowed just three hits and didn't walk a batter Friday against the Padres but surrendered three runs (two earned) while striking out two in a no-decision.

Jenkins, who also hit a batter Friday, has given up two runs while pitching five innings in each of his three starts for the Blue Jays. With Josh Johnson expected to re-join the rotation Tuesday, Jenkins could lose his rotation spot. The Blue Jays play five games next week, so Jenkins may not be used until the following week if he remains in the rotation.

Chad Jenkins limits damage in no-decision

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/26/2013) Blue Jays starting pitcher Chad Jenkins was in a duel with Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez Sunday, and he was in line for the loss until Toronto rallied for a 6-5 win in the ninth inning. Jenkins allowed two runs in the second inning, but Gonzalez allowed one in 5 2/3 innings.

Jenkins gave up eight hits and three walks in five innings, while striking out two. He has a 3.60 ERA in two starts.

If Jenkins remains in the rotation, his next start will come Friday at San Diego.

Chad Jenkins to start Sunday

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/23/2013) Blue Jays manager John Gibbons announced Thursday starting pitcher Chad Jenkins will start Sunday against the Orioles, bumping Ramon Ortiz from the rotation. Jenkins was considered the front-runner to start Friday before prospect Sean Nolin got the nod.

Chad Jenkins being passed over for start

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/23/2013) The Blue Jays are expected to promote Double-A pitcher Sean Nolin to start Friday's game against the Orioles, according to Sportsnet, choosing the left-hander over Chad Jenkins, who was considered the front-runner to make the start. Jenkins, who won in his only start May 12 at Boston, has been available out of the team's bullpen.

Chad Jenkins not yet named Friday's starter

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/22/2013) Blue Jays manager John Gibbons continues to refrain from naming Chad Jenkins the starter for Friday's game against the Orioles, according to the Toronto Star. Jenkins is preparing to start, but he's available out of the bullpen.

Chad Jenkins the front-runner to start Friday

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/20/2013) Blue Jays manager John Gibbons wouldn't commit to a starting pitcher for Friday against the Orioles, but he said Monday Chad Jenkins is the front-runner to start, according to the Toronto Star. Jenkins was expected to start Monday against the Rays, but the team had to reshuffle its rotation following Sunday's rainout.

Chad Jenkins getting skipped

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(5/19/2013) Blue Jays starter Chad Jenkins, who was expected to start Monday against Tampa Bay, will now be skipped in the rotation, TSN reports.

Manager John Gibbons will push R.A. Dickey back to Monday and keep Ramon Ortiz and Mark Buehrle on turn Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jenkins impressed during his first turn in the rotation. He earned a win over five innings at Boston. He allowed two runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. There is no word when he's next scheduled to take the mound, though he could be used in relief.

Blue Jays go with Chad Jenkins, Ramon Ortiz

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(5/18/2013) The Blue Jays officially have announced Chad Jenkins will start Monday against Tampa Bay. Veteran Ramon Ortiz will follow him to the hill Tuesday against the Rays, MLB.com reports.

The decision previously was put on hold due to the possibility that one or both of those pitchers could have been needed in the bullpen.

"We're good, we're fresh down there," manager John Gibbons said of his bullpen. "[Jenkins] was in case something happened to Buehrle really early or something."

Chad Jenkins impressing in rotation

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(5/15/2013) The Toronto rotation has seen injuries to Josh Johnson and J.A. Happ while Ricky Romero continues to pitch inconsistent baseball. Because of that, Chad Jenkins has been able to emerge for manager John Gibbons, MLB.com reported Wednesday.

Jenkins held Boston to just two earned runs Sunday and impressed general manager Alex Anthopoulos in the process. The GM said it was the best he's ever seen Jenkins perform.

The Blue Jays have tabbed Jenkins' next start to come either Monday or Tuesday at home against Tampa Bay. Because that start is a week away, Jenkins was available to pitch out of the bullpen Wednesday.

Chad Jenkins wins in 2013 debut

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/12/2013) Blue Jays starting pitcher Chad Jenkins earned his second career win during Sunday's 12-4 victory over the Red Sox. The Blue Jays supported Jenkins (1-0), who was making his 2013 debut, with five home runs.

The right-hander, who threw 58 of 90 pitches for strikes, allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk in five innings. Jenkins allowed a solo home run to Mike Napoli leading off the fourth inning and he struck out two.

If Jenkins remains in the rotation, then his next scheduled start will be Saturday at the Yankees.

Chad Jenkins will start Sunday

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(5/11/2013) The Blue Jays have announced that Chad Jenkins will take Brandon Morrow's vacated start on Sunday in Boston, the National Post reports.

Jenkins gets the start after making just one minor league start with Double-A New Hampshire after coming off a shoulder injury.

Jenkins, 25, last pitched in the majors last season and went 1-3 with a 4.50 ERA over 13 games and three starts. He was 1-2 as a starter with a 3.95 ERA.

Chad Jenkins recalled by Toronto

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(5/11/2013) The Blue Jays recalled pitcher Chad Jenkins from Double-A New Hampshire on Saturday before a game at Boston. Jenkins was recalled as the corresponding roster move to Rajai Davis going on the DL.

Jenkins has been tabbed as a possible starter and could even get the nod for Sunday's game if Brandon Morrow can't go.

Jenkins missed the first month of the season with a sore shoulder. He gave up two runs on three hits over five innings in his first start with New Hampshire.

Chad Jenkins could be in the mix to start down the line

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(5/11/2013) Blue Jays pitcher Chad Jenkins, who is pitching at Double-A New Hampshire, could enter the mix as a potential starter for Toronto down the line, especially with the lack of depth in the big-league rotation.

Jenkins missed the first month of the season with a sore shoulder. He made his first start of the season on Monday, as he surrendered two runs and three hits in five innings of work. General manager Alex Anthopoulos told MLB.com that he'll need to see a bit more out of Jenkins after his 75-pitch outing.

by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com
(4/1/2013) Blue Jays relief pitcher Chad Jenkins will continue working on his shoulder at Double-A New Hampshire to begin the season after being optioned to the outpost in mid-March. Jenkins was shut down during the early part of spring after developing inflammation in his right shoulder.

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(2/24/2013) Toronto pitcher Chad Jenkins, who is a long shot for a rotation spot this spring, saw his first Grapefruit League action against the Orioles Sunday. Jenkins pitched the sixth inning and gave up the lead for Toronto as he allowed a run on three hits and no walks. He struck out two batters in his one-inning performance.
