Phillies sign eight veteran players to minor-league deals

(11/13/2014) The Phillies announced Thursday they signed Andres Blanco, Brian Bogusevic, Russ Canzler, Chase d'Arnaud, Jeff Francoeur, John Hester, Darin Mastroianni and Xavier Paul to minor-league contracts. All eight players received invites to attend spring training as non-roster invitees.

Pirates add six to expanded roster

(9/2/2014) The Pirates added six players to the active roster Tuesday, as part of their September roster expansion.

The team purchased the contract of infielder Chase d'Arnaud from Triple-A Indianapolis, and recalled pitchers Bobby LaFromboise , John Holdzkom, Jeff Locke and Casey Sadler , as well as outfielder Gregory Polanco from Triple-A.

(3/21/2014) The Pirates optioned pitcher Phil Irwin and infielders Chris McGuiness and Brent Morel to Triple-A Indianapolis Friday.

The team also reassigned infielder Chase d'Arnaud and pitchers Jake Brigham, Cody Eppley, Josh Kinney and Yao-Hsun Yang to minor-league camp.

(5/24/2013) Pirates manager Clint Hurdle told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that infielder Chase d'Arnaud has moved his rehab assignment from Double-A Altoona to Triple-A Indianapolis.

d'Arnaud, who is recovering from thumb surgery, hit .143 (2 for 14) in four games at Double-A after hitting .333 (2 for 6) at Class A Bradenton.

(3/20/2013) Pirates infielder Chase d'Arnaud had surgery to repair a partially torn ligament in his left thumb Monday and will miss 5-8 weeks, MLB.com reported. He was placed on the 60-day DL on Wednesday.

"I kind of knew when I went [to the clinic] that I was going to have the surgery. It really [stinks]. I worked hard this offseason, so the timing of this is really annoying," d'Arnaud told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

(3/14/2013) The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Pirates infielder Chase d'Arnaud might need surgery after an MRI revealed a partially torn ligament in his left thumb. He will leave camp Sunday to be examined by a specialist. Surgery would sideline him 3-4 months.

"I didn't think (the injury) was that bad," d'Arnaud said. "It felt like any other sprained finger. When they told me the MRI results, I was shocked."
