Alex Hassan sent back down to Triple-A

(6/8/2014) The Red Sox optioned outfielder Alex Hassan to Triple-A Pawtucket Sunday, MLB.com reports. Hassan had one hit in seven at-bats in his stint with the big-league club.

(5/30/2014) The Red Sox have placed first baseman/catcher Ryan Lavarnway on the disabled list and are set to call up outfielder Alex Hassan from Triple-A Pawtucket, the Boston Herald has reported.

Hassan, who will be active for the Friday night game against Tampa Bay, is batting just .217 in the minors this season.


Red Sox send five to Triple-A

(3/13/2014) The Red Sox have sent Anthony Ranaudo, Alex Wilson, Garin Cecchini, Bryce Brentz and Alex Hassan to Triple-A.

The club cut down from 58 to 46 players Thursday. Both Ranaudo and Cecchini are considered prospects within the system, but need more time to develop in the minors before they make their major-league debuts.
