"Garcia continues to be pretty solid," Sandberg said. "Throwing strikes with his couple of pitches. Those guys for sure were bright spots, along with Slowey."

Phillies' Andy Oliver: 'There's still some stuff I need to work on'

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/11/2015) Phillies pitcher Andy Oliver tossed two scoreless innings of relief in Wednesday's win over the Pirates, striking out two and walking one while giving up no hits. However, the Rule 5 pick is still looking to improve in his bid to make the 25-man roster, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

"Overall it was all right," Oliver said. "There's still some stuff I need to work on."

Oliver has yet to allow a run in four innings, racking up six strikeouts while walking two. He hasn't appeared in a major-league game since 2011. Manager Ryne Sandberg said he sees Oliver as a reliever with a "plus fastball and a plus slider."

"Up to this point, he's thrown just enough strikes to get through an inning," Sandberg said. "His stuff is quality in the zone. For him, getting ahead of the count and throw more strikes is something he's working on."
