(4/11/2015) With two players on the disabled list after Friday's game, the Rangers recalled two players from the minor leagues.

The team purchased the contract of outfielder Carlos Peguero from Triple-A Round Rock. Peguero had four hits in six at bats during his two minor league games this season.

The Rangers also recalled pitcher Jon Edwards from Triple-A Round Rock. Edwards had a one-inning save in his only minor league appearance this season.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(4/1/2015) Rangers outfielder Carlos Peguero will start the season in Triple-A, which means Delino DeShields Jr. has earned the final spot on the 25-man active roster, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Wednesday.

DeShields, a Rule 5 draft choice, is hitting .235/.278/.382 with one RBI this spring. Peguero is hitting .350/.435/.500 over 40 at-bats in Cactus League.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(3/31/2015) Rangers manager Jeff Banister told reporters that the final roster spot will come down between Delino DeShields and Carlos Peguero, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Tuesday.

DeShields, a Rule 5 draft choice, is hitting .235/.278/.382 with one RBI this spring. He would be sent back to the Astros if he is not on the Rangers' opening day roster.

Peguero is hitting .350/.435/.500 over 40 at-bats in Cactus League.

Ryan Rua, Delino DeShields big winners in Rangers OF battle

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3/29/2015) The Rangers' roster is taking shape, and the big winners appear to be Ryan Rua and Delino DeShields Jr.

Rua will most likely be the starting left fielder for the Rangers, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Rua wrapped up the job by hitting .306 with eight RBI this spring.

Jake Smolinski will be the fourth outfielder. He hit .333 with five RBI. DeShields will win the last roster spot. DeShields hit .235. As a Rule V draft pick, he needs to stay on the Major League roster, or the team risks losing him.

The odd man out will be Carlos Peguero , despite hitting .333.

Rangers' Carlos Peguero hopes strong spring equals roster spot

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(3/22/2015) Outfielder Carlos Peguero has played well in spring training in the past but hasn't been able to get that to translate to a consistent job in the bigs. He's at it again for the Rangers, racking up another three-hit game Sunday in their loss to the Mariners, and hoping he can make the Opening Day roster, per MLB.com.

Peguero is hitting .440 this spring, giving him a solid chance of earning a job in the Rangers' outfield. In his past four springs, Peguero registered an impressive .335 average, but over the same time frame once the real season starts, he hit just .196 in 69 MLB contests.

"I'm just trying to have fun and don't try to do too much," Peguero said. "I'm not being in a hurry and putting pressure on myself."

Bannister: Carlos Peguero 'a force' for Rangers

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(3/17/2015) Carlos Peguero is in camp with the Rangers as a non-roster invitee, after spending all but four games in the minor leagues with the Royals last season.

Peguero is making a case to break camp in the Majors this spring. He went two for two with a home run and two RBI on Tuesday, lifting his spring average to .438.

The left-handed hitting Peguero is five for 10 against right-handed pitchers, with three extra-base hits, and he may end up sharing the left field job in a platoon.

“He’s a force,” manager Jeff Banister said, according to Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News. “He’s intriguing.”

Carlos Peguero clears waivers, will start year at Triple-A

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(4/2/2014) Outfielder and one-time top prospect Carlos Peguero has cleared waivers and will open his season at Triple-A Omaha.

Peguero, who was traded by the Mariners to the Royals in the offseason, has yet to make consistent contact. He has fanned 84 times in 205 major league at-bats, which is one reason why his playing time at that level has decreased every year season since 2011.

Mariners option Carlos Peguero to Triple-A

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(3/22/2013) The Mariners announced Friday that outfielder Carlos Peguero has been optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.

Peguero turned in a solid line this spring, hitting .341/.386/.659 with three home runs in 41 at-bats. However, with the Mariners adding multiple outfielders this offseason, he didn't have a great chance breaking camp with the team. A very good power hitter in the PCL over the last two names, he's one to keep in mind in AL-only leagues if the Mariners' OF depth wears thin.
