Evan Reed called up by Tigers

(6/9/2013) The Tigers recalled reliever Evan Reed from Triple-A Toledo to help out in the bullpen. Jose Alvarez was demoted following his spot start Sunday. 

Reed appeared in two games with Detroit this year and has a 2.53 ERA over 32 innings at Triple-A.

(5/17/2013) Tigers reliever Evan Reed was pressed into duty immediately upon his recall Thursday, as he pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief in a 10-4 loss to the Rangers.

Reed allowed one run on two hits, as he gave up a solo home run to Nelson Cruz in the seventh inning. He struck out one batter, and needed 33 pitches to finish three innings of work in his major-league debut.

(5/16/2013) The Tigers promoted reliever Evan Reed from Triple-A Toledo Thursday after optioning Al Alburquerque to the minors. Reed was 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in 21 innings for Toledo.

Tigers claim Evan Reed from Marlins

(4/3/2013) The Tigers have claimed right-handed pitcher Evan Reed off waivers from the Marlins, the club announced.

Reed, 27, is a hard thrower but struggled mightily upon a promotion to Triple-A last season. After dicing up Double-A hitters to the tune of a 2.34 ERA and 3.91 K/BB over 34 2/3 innings, Reed allowed a 7.16 ERA and 1.69 K/BB in 32 2/3 innings at the highest minor-league level. 

The Tigers have assigned Reed to Triple-A Toledo as part of the move.

(3/31/2013) The Marlins made a flurry of roster moves Sunday, designating third baseman Zack Cox, outfielder Gorkys Hernandez and pitchers Scott Maine and Evan Reed for assignment. All of the players were competing for spots on the opening day roster during the spring.

(3/11/2013) The Miami Marlins made their second wave of roster cuts this spring and announced the following moves: pitchers Alex Sanabia and Brad Hand -- who were both in the mix for the fifth spot in the rotation -- were optioned to Triple-A New Orleans. Outfielder Kyle Jensen and pitcher Evan Reed were also sent to New Orleans. The team optioned pitchers Sam Dyson and Edgar Olmos and outfielder Marcell Ozuna to Double-A Jacksonville. Pitcher Jordan Smith and catcher Wilfredo Gimenez were re-assigned to the minor-league camp.
