"It was my job to lose coming into spring training and I had to get back on track hitting-wise, and show them I could play center because it's a big role that somebody is going to have to be able to fill," Sappelt told MLB.com Saturday.

Sappelt, who is competing for a spot on the bench, is batting .205 (8 for 39) this spring with nine RBI and two stolen bases.
"The last three days I’ve been putting it together and not putting pressure on myself,” Sappelt told ESPN.com. “I shouldn't have pressure on me. ... Obviously, we all know there are two spots open. One is probably an outfielder and one is probably an infielder. I guess I was putting pressure on myself. I had to tell myself it's spring training and just get ready for April 1, not Feb. 20.”
