Stinson pitched just once in his last stint with Baltimore and hurled 1 2/3 shutout innings. But he owns a 6.23 ERA in eight appearances on the season.

Josh Stinson tabbed as Orioles' primary long reliever

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3/31/2014) Orioles manager Buck Showalter said pitcher Josh Stinson will be used as the primary long reliever to open the season. Stinson was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and had 13 strikeouts in nine innings this spring.

Orioles adding from Triple-A roster

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(9/2/2013) With the Triple-A Norfolk Tides losing in their bid to get to the playoffs Monday, that means the Orioles' roster will have some new faces on Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Manager Buck Showalter said Monday that Baltimore can expect to add the likes of outfielder/designated hitter Henry Urrutia, pitcher Josh Stinson and top position prospect Jonathan Schoop from the Tides.

Schoop recorded a hit in Monday's loss to Durham. He's batting .222 over his last 10 games with a homer and two RBI. Schoop hit .255 at Norfolk this year over 267 at-bats with nine homers and 34 RBI in a down season marred by injury.

Urrutia spent some time with Baltimore earlier in the season and will likely be used as a pinch-hitter or designated hitter. Stinson made a start for Baltimore earlier this year and will be used in middle relief.

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(8/18/2013) Orioles reliever Josh Stinson was optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk following his appearance in Sunday's game against Colorado, MLB.com reports.

Stinson appeared in two games for the Orioles since his most recent callup. He gave up two hits and a walk with a strikeout over 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

Orioles recall pitcher Josh Stinson

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(8/17/2013) The Orioles have recalled starter Josh Stinson from Triple-A Norfolk Saturday. Stinson will pitch in long relief and provide support to a tired bullpen, MASNSports.com reports.

Stinson replaces Henry Urrutia on the roster. Urrutia was sent down after Friday's loss to Colorado.

Stinson pitched six innings on Tuesday for Norfolk. He gave up one run with seven strikeouts and earned the win. Stinson has gone 7-5 with a 3.75 ERA over 21 starts with the Tides. He is 4-2 with a 2.67 ERA in his last 10 starts.

Stinson did pitch for Baltimore early in the season. He made one start on April 24 against Toronto. He took a no-decision as he gave up five runs on five hits -- with four homers allowed -- over 5 2/3 innings.

(7/11/2013) The Orioles have optioned pitcher Josh Stinson to Triple-A Norfolk following Thursday's game against the Rangers. Stinson did not make an appearance in his most recent stint with the Orioles. He is 4-4 with a 4.23 ERA in 15 starts at Triple-A.

Josh Stinson to be recalled

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(7/10/2013) Orioles pitcher Josh Stinson will be called up by the team to replace Kevin Gausman, according to MASN.

Stinson was up with the club in April, but was optioned after just one start. In 15 starts at Triple-A Norfolk, Stinson has a 4.23 ERA. Stinson pitched Saturday, so he would go on short rest if needed Wednesday.

Josh Stinson optioned after home run derby

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(4/24/2013) The Orioles gave Wednesday's spot start at home against the Blue Jays to Josh Stinson. Manager Buck Showalter wanted Stinson to eat some innings and he managed to do that.

Unfortunately, he also couldn't keep Toronto in the yard. Stinson surrendered four home runs as the Blue Jays hammered the ball every time they anticipated a strike would be thrown. J.P. Arencibia hit a two-run shot in the second inning and Rajai Davis, Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista followed with solo shots in each of the third, fourth and sixth innings, respectively.

Otherwise, Stinson was solid over 5 2/3 innings. He didn't allow a run that didn't come on a homer as he gave up five runs on five hits and a walk over 76 pitches. Stinson struck out three on the outing and was optioned back to Triple-A Norfolk following the game.

Baltimore came back to tie the score and send the game into extra innings as Stinson happily settled for the no-decision.

Stinson arrived in the O's clubhouse Tuesday, but the move hasn't been made official. Once Stinson is officially added to the roster, a reliever will likely be sent down. The most logical choice seems to be Alex Burnett, who was added Monday.

Stinson, 25, spent the bulk of 2012 at Double-A Huntsville in Milwaukee's farm system, where he allowed a 3.16 ERA in 145.1 innings of work with a 1.3 K/BB. Stinson reached Milwaukee in September, where he gave up a run on seven hits and five walks over 9.1 innings.

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/22/2013) Despite posting a miniscule 0.93 ERA in eight Cactus League appearances, Brewers pitcher Josh Stinson was optioned to Triple-A Nashville Friday. Stinson posted a 3.16 ERA with the Brewers' Double-A affiliate in Huntsville last season, and allowed just one run in 9 1/3 innings in a call-up last season.

Stinson does not factor into decision

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/4/2012) Milwaukee pitcher Josh Stinson made a spot start for Yovani Gallardo and did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Padres. Stinson, who was making his first start of the year, permitted just one run on three hits in four innings of work in a 7-6 defeat. He gave up a solo home run to Chris Denorfia for his only damage of the evening. He failed to record a strikeout and walked two in 60 pitches while his ERA went up to 0.96 on the year.
